yave1964
Drew Doughty knows a thing or two about closing out a series. Closing in on his second cup in his young career as well as a couple of gold medals, he brought up the Sharks series when discussing why you just need to put the hammer down and win this series tonight against the Rangers. "Once we won that first game in the San Jose series, we kind of had a feeling we were going to come back and win that series, and you could see it in their eyes and their team and their captains and leaders that they were worried about us coming back, so we don't want to give these guys any life," Doughty said. Ouch. Sharks captain Joe Thornton could not be reached on the golf course for comment. I said after game 5, in here even, that the Sharks were still up 3 games to 2 but playing like they were behind. Doughty taking a swipe at one of his clubs top rivals is not a classy move but might make things interesting when the two clubs play next season, as if the Sharks need any more reason to be geared up. Essentially, whether or not it is tonight or a few nights from now, when Doughty lifts the cup above his head Thornton and Marleau and the rest have to feel like it was their cup that was taken from them by the Kings. mojo1917
@yave1964 i don't agree that Doughty is "taking a swipe" . He's remembering how he felt and how he perceived his opponent. He's not calling them losers or chokers. I think that's a stretch to take that comment and make it into bulletin board material.

ruxpin
Yeah, I don't see a swipe at all. If anyone is a Sharks fan, they SHOULD reach for the salve, but that wasn't at all a swipe. It was just, "don't let these guys up off the mat."

If I am a member fo the Sharks organization, this season could not end soon enough and October couldn't get here quick enough. Of course you can say that most seasons lately when it comes to San Jose. The comment by Doughty, where he says he could see it in the Sharks captain's eyes after game one, was a direct swipe on Thornton In my opinion. Agreed though, it may have not been meant as a swipe but Thornton had to cringe. Of course it was well deserved.
ruxpin
@yave1964Hey. Thanks about the avatar! I think I would describe the statement as "damning" or maybe as an indictment. Not so much a swipe. Really, he's just kind of saying that his team is on the opposite side of a situation they have already been in and wants to prevent a repeat. But if what he says is true it's pretty damning. It's also exactly what I've suspected with Thornton.
