Timonen re-signed to one year deal

I guess this is okay if it's $2 million and the bonus money isn't actually just delayed salary - we'll have to see the details. But I don't know if I like a roster spot going to a 39-year old, even Kimmo Timonen who I like and respect a lot.

 

Then again I'm basing that on hope - hoping that at least 1 or 2 AHL guys are ready - Lauridsen, maybe Manning. If they're not, fine. But if they are I think we should've passed on Timonen. We should be going younger, faster D-men at this point. Timonen's smart positional play can only mask his tired legs just so much.

 

But the main reason like I said, I want to see Ollie in the lineup. Did he have a bad year or what? When he was with the Flyers I thought he looked ready, ready as he'll ever be, and to progress further he'd have to face the best players in the world - in the NHL.

 

 Nice post Cans, agree with all of that, except the Manning part, I think his very poor year allowed a few players (mainly Alt) to pass him on the depth chart. Like you, I'm ok with the Kimmo deal, as long as that bonus money is hard to achieve. If we only pay him 2 mill, it's a steal of a deal, for that reason alone, I'm thinking at least half that bonus stuff will go into Timonen's pocket.
