"This is a perfect way to kick off the hockey season at PPL Center," said Phantoms executive vice president Chris Porreca. "We can't wait to open the doors to this beautiful new arena and for all the hockey fans in the Lehigh Valley community, it will be a great chance to see current and former Phantoms skating together."

Some of the former Phantoms that could be in attendance include Flyers captain Claude Giroux, Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier, Matt Read, Zac Rinaldo and R.J. Umberger.  Meanwhile, other current Flyers and Phantoms players will be on hand as well for the mixed-squad game.

The "Battle on Hamilton" comes one day after the start of Phantoms training camp in the Lehigh Valley and will precede the team's official preseason schedule, which begins Wednesday, October 1 in a 7:05 PM clash with the Hershey Bears at PPL Center.

"The Battle on Hamilton will provide a first glimpse to the Lehigh Valley of all the excitement that's to come in the upcoming season," Porreca said. "It's a wonderful way to kick off Phantoms training camp and should be an extremely enjoyable evening for our fans."

Tickets for the "Battle on Hamilton" will go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 19 and are available starting at $10 for upper-bowl seating, $15 for lower-level seats and $20 for club-level seating.  To purchase tickets please visit the PPL Center Box Office at 701 Hamilton Street, call 610-347-TIXX (8499) or log on to pplcenter.com/tickets.

Why do they call it the battle of Hamilton. I was thinking the game was going to be at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton Ontario.

@Vanflyer I think one of the main streets in Allentown is called Hamilton street, still....sounds like a dumb name.

You are correct! I grew up in Allentown. The main city street is called Hamilton Blvd.
