They used to have the current checkerboard pattern for many years at the old Spectrum through the 1980s and into the 90s. I want to say that the 3 stripe design came in when the WFC opened but I am not 100% sure of that. Unique as it was (I never saw it anywhere else) I was actually happy so see a more traditional redline back there tonight. In fact when sunk my butt down into my seat it was the 1st thing I noticed when surveying the ice and I have to say it was like seeing an old friend (It was similar to the feeling I had when Rick Tocchet came back to the Flyers). Call me crazy but I have always been the nostalgic type. I still facepalm every time I hear the "Lets go Flyers" chant mangled by the current crop of fans at the WFC.

I remember it at the Spectrum, never did notice the chant difference though. And I know a couple members have been griping about that since the philly.com forums. I'll throw my own gripe, go back to the old goal horn. Thanks.
Adamflyers Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Never did like the 3 lines. I like the checker board look much better. Either that or a solid red line work for me. As ridiculous as it may be, the way the chant is done now bugs the heck out of me. It sounds like the Rangers chant, which makes me sick!

The red parts are not squares at all but Flyers logos! meh... cheesy design if you ask me, Tampa Bay does the same thing as do a few other teams. 3 stripe was classy and unique. WFC has nothing unique about it, its like being at Prudential center, same blarring music yadda yadda... Wish they would hire the guy from MSG, bring some "hey we're the f-ing Flyers, we're league legends" with him. When the Rangers came out to The Who in the finals last year I thought it was cool as hell.
