yave1964 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Dupuis on the top line, ugh. He is your version o my Wings Cleary, a solid trooper who hangs around too long. Kapanen/Bennett on the second line, i like that a lot. I LOVE the third line. Spalling has been a favorite of mine for several years in Nashville. One of the best two way players in the game today. I think you guys are gona love him. A bit thinner than in years past, but the weakest division in the game helps.
hf101 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Dupuis on the top line, ugh. Nice! My fhl team likes that very much!
jammer2 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 @B21 Which defensemen do you think will be running the top pp? I'm thinking Letang is a lock, but if they go with 2 d-men at the point on the top pp, I guess Erhoff would be a nice option.
B21 Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 you think kapanen might make the team ? It's been a rumor due to Bennett's injury.

If/when they roll with two d-men, I would pair him with Martin. Erhoff would be my 2nd PP unit QB with Maatta when they roll with two d-men. Makes the most sense. Erhoff was Buffalo's top PP d-man last year. He steps into Niskanen's role. Martin and Maatta were the only other d-men to get significant PP minutes last year. 1 offense-first d-man and one "well rounder" d-man on each unit.
flyercanuck Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 @B21 Think Pouliot makes an appearance this year? Probably not (unless injury forces it) You guys are pretty set offensively at the back end with Letang, Erhoff and Maatta.

nossagog Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Did zakoff clear waivers? No word yet, someone has until noon tomorrow to claim him

I'm hoping for a trade!

I'm hoping for a trade!Yeah, this is a BIG year for Fleury, and the Pens "could" be looking for who's next. I like Zatkoff, but really feel at this point in his career, he'd be better off in the AHL getting game experience. I'd hate to lose him, hope he clears

He's gotten better as he ages actually. He's a heart and soul guy who scores over 20 goals with Sid, but more importantly, he wins battles in the corner and crashes the net to open up space for Sid. I see him quite often, and the guy is in phenomenal shape. As for "thinner", is strongly disagree there. Excluding Bennett being injured, we gave up Neal for Hornqvist so yes a slight downgrade... But last season we had Gibbons on line one (not even re-signed), and Jokinen on line two (inconsistent at best). But the bottom six was Adams, Goc, Sutter... And insert AHL player here. We've added Spaling, Comeau and Downie (gasp). Defense looks equal or slightly better. Erhoff/Niskanen... And as much as I hate to say it, my buddy Orpik had to move on. Not what he used to be. I think we're stronger this year.
hf101 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Did zakoff clear waivers? Wow, Risky move. I thought Zakoff had a solid season last year filling in for Fleury. I really don't understand why the Pens signed Greiss. I can easily see the Devils swooping up Zakoff, he's a better goalie than Clemmenson

I also see the devils getting him
jammer2 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I'm thinking Greise is a just a better option at back up right now. A lot more NHL starts, a better proven commodity. Just my theory, but I believe the Pens took the chance with Zatkoff being exposed, cause the real Pens goalie of the future is Tristan Jerry. As far as the Devils go, I'm shocked Scott Wedgewood is not the back up in NJ....kid has talent.

His inconsistencies are more and more noticeable. Since he is a ufa, watch him have a unbelievable year!
jammer2 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 @notfondajane Tristan was the Pens 2nd round pick in 2013, he went 44th overall. His WHL team, the Edmonton Oil Kings have always been respectable, but he has some very nice stats for junior hockey. This will be his 4th year with the Oil Kings. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=145157
notfondajane Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Pens were lucky Zatkoff cleared waivers! My question is what happened to Voucoun? Was he released?

Where he is at right now reminds me of where Guerin was when the Pens traded for him...and we know how that worked out. Dupuis is probably in better shape, too. Agree on the D. Losing Orpik is not as big a hit as it seems. He is a shell of his former self. MAYBE if he was willing to take a one year deal would I have kept him. Let the Caps pay him for the next 4 years.
