King Knut Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 He made pledges to commit to the young talent,Another pledge not to rush the young talent,And yet another that there were no free rides and whoever earned a spot would get it. These are three contradictory promises. He kept the middle one and hasn't traded any of them yet. Couldnt hold up his side of the bargain on the last one. Not in Philly.

Not in Philly. I think the only real "question" is Gotstobehere and, quite frankly, I think he's wise to not rush him into the NHL given his current size. A commitment to young talent is a commitment not to rush them into situations they aren't prepared for.
OccamsRazor Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I think he's wise to not rush him into the NHL given his current size. I'm not sure how much BIGGER he'll get hopefully some but sometimes by the time you're his age you could be done growing physically, but a dedicated deit and weight training can supplement genetics. So with his frame i'd imagine he should be able to get up to the 195 lb range But for sure what he needs to work on is his defensive game and play away from the puck offensively he is ready but other areas of his game will improve greatly with big minutes on the Phantoms. I'd imagine he and Alt will be the #1 Dpair with Hagg/Petterson as the #2 Dpair. And Lamarche/Konan the bottom pair. But somewhere Ollie and Manning will have to play i hate to see these two get the playing time from Ghost/Hagg/Alt.
murraycraven Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Not so sure I agree... Committing to the young talent doe not mean the GM will, or should for that matter, play the kids. There is a development process here... Be patient. Morin is not ready and Gost is close but people fail to realize that he has never played this type of schedule. he needs time in the A....

Marty St. Louis can be a Mighty Mite, but it's a different story on the defensive side. But for sure what he needs to work on is his defensive game and play away from the puck offensively he is ready but other areas of his game will improve greatly with big minutes on the Phantoms. See, I thought his defensive positoning was really good - and that's what stood out the most watching Union's Frozen Four run. Ghost always seemed to be in the right place, almost instincitvely. Offensively, he showed a lot in preseason (as well as being the engine that made Union go). The A is the absolute right choice for him, but I'll bet we see him in orange and black more than a few times this season.
OccamsRazor Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 See, I thought his defensive positoning was really good - and that's what stood out the most watching Union's Frozen Four run. Yes in the frozen four he was outstanding best single performance i had ever seen in college hockey. However to me in the preseason at times he looked like he was thinking to much (which is to be expected) instead of just playing like he was still adjusting to the speed at this level. Now i'm not saying by any means he was horrible but just for instance when he and Morin were caught on the same side of the ice for a score things they can still work on and a lot of that has to do with communication and it will get ironed out. And we know the Flyers can't stay healthy for a full season so i to expect to see him sometimes this season....and it might not be due to an injury they may just need to inject some more offense into the lineup and to me i think he can do that in a pinch. But he needs a defensive Dman to play with a stay at home type so he can join the rush i guess a Luke or Nick type.....GrossmanN that is, i don't want Schultz doing anything this year but serving popcorn.
