TimKerrFan12 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I am already thinking it.....Connor McDavid.
murraycraven Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 That is a name but I think we are a long way off...
Vanflyer Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I am already thinking it.....Connor McDavid. I will be happy with anything in the top 10. McDavid is the elite for the draft crop, but anything in the top 10 should be an impact player. While the Flyers are bad, they are not that bad. The irony is that probably Edmonton is going to get him. How many #1's do they need before they become competitive????
flyercanuck Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 @Vanflyer Edmonton has had the misfortune of getting #1s in not so great draft years. RNH? Yakupov? Think Pittsburgh or Chicago wins a cup if they had them instead of Crosby/Malkin or Toews/Kane? Taylor Hall is a very good player but the other two aren't in that ballpark. And if Philly ends up bottom ten, there;s a shot at McDavid slim as it may be.
flyercanuck Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I am already thinking it.....Connor McDavid. heck I'd be happy with Eichel or Hanifan or Strome or Kylington or ....

Vanflyer Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Connor McDavid. They will not be that bad. Hanifin Noah (d) is the player I want. He will be the first d-man of the top 10.
AJgoal Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 They will not be that bad. Hanifin Noah (d) is the player I want. He will be the first d-man of the top 10. Don't need to be that bad to have a shot, it's a lottery. Over 50% of the teams (10 of 19) that have picked first since the lottery was instituted didn't have the worst overall record. In fact, the worst overall team has only won 6 times. 3 times the worst overall team retained the 1st pick because the team that won the lottery was only able to move up four slots, which is no longer true - the winner picks first now, regardless of original seeding. Dollar and a dream, Van.
Vanflyer Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Dollar and a dream, Van. No argument from me. If he was to fall in our lap......I would be giddy.
AJgoal Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Of course, saying that, the worst team has been leapfrogged the past 3 drafts, so they're due to keep the pick this year.
AlaskaFlyerFan Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I am already thinking it.....Connor McDavid.That's two names...
flyercanuck Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 They will not be that bad. Hanifin Noah (d) is the player I want. He will be the first d-man of the top 10. I honestly think we have a better shot at McDavid. Hanifan should go 3rd. I really don't think we end up anywhere near there, but a shot in the lottery is possible. I'd be pretty damn happy with any one of Strome/Kylington/Crouse/Zacha to be honest. But Hanifan or Eichel works if we ever managed to be that bad. i just don't see it.
pilldoc Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 No the M.O. of this team will to go on a winning streak near the end of the season, barely miss the playoffs and pick #14-16.
flyercanuck Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 No the M.O. of this team will to go on a winning streak near the end of the season, barely miss the playoffs and pick #14-16. That's how the Leafs have managed to suck for over a decade.
pilldoc Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I am already thinking it.....Connor McDavid. That is a name but I think we are a long way off... Good thought....... but both Florida and Buffalo seem miles ahead of the Flyers in regards to the suckage barometer. Matter of fact you can add Carolina and possibly the mess that is Edmonton to that list too.The Flyers are a mediocre team, not a horrible one
Vanflyer Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 And if Philly ends up bottom ten, there;s a shot at McDavid slim as it may be. Noah Haniflin, Oliver Klington or Zack Werenski are on my draft card. The Flyers are not going to suck so bad to get a first five pick (haniflin / Klington), But they are going to suck enough to get Werenski (projected #11 overall). I have wet dreams of Ghost and Werenski (6'2 / 214 lbs, skates like the wind and bangs anything that is not wearing his jersey). I know its a three year program, but I am okay with that. Ghost and Werenski will be the best d tandem in the nhl since I don't know when.
EDI-Flyer Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 and bangs anything that is not wearing his jersey I thought that was Richie and Frosted Tips...
Vanflyer Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I thought that was Richie and Frosted Tips... I guess bangs was the wrong word. A euphemism? That said, wouldn't you do the same??
EDI-Flyer Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I guess bangs was the wrong word. A euphemism? In fairness you could have used "nails" or "hits" and I would still have twisted it That said, wouldn't you do the same?? Absolutely I would, no issue with that side of things at all LOL
BobbyClarkeFan16 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 There's some real good defenders in the draft this year. Hanifin is probably the best of the bunch, but don't discount guys like Jeremy Roy, Connor Hobbes and a dark horse who is expected to climb - Nicolas Meloche. Scouts are raving about him and believe that he might end up giving Hanifin a run for the gun in terms of skill and ability. As well, I'd love to see a potential left winger in the mix. I know Paul Bittner was mentioned, but I think a guy like Dylan Strome (who can also play left wing) could be a real good fit here.
