14 games

Crosby 7-17-24pts

Hornqvist 9-9-18pts

Kunitz 8-8-16pts

14 games 24-34-58pts

I like Duper, but Hornqvist has worked well with SId, and doesn't flub his passes.

Sigh

I'll shut up now, Dupuis with two goals tonight

Trying to jump start Malkin (1 point in prior 2 games).  Little early to tinker i/m/h/o but at this point Johnston has earned the right to try this for a few games.

My biggest take aways from last night were how they protected the 2-1 lead after Toronto picked up the momentum with Franson's goal and....Greiss. 30 saves. 14 in the 3rd.  May have found a diamond in the rough there.

And of course Crosby's sick no-look back hand pass on Duper's 2nd goal.  ;)

I'd have rather seen him move up Bennet to Geno's line, where he has played before, instead.  Sid finally gets a quality winger and its,  "Oh, you're playing well but Malkin's having problems, so lets change".  I'm against that.

Also, I was sad to see Comeau scratched last night.   I think Downie or Adams would be a much better fit for the odd man in the press box.   Comeau has been solid this year, and understands how to hit hard without taking penalties.   Downie had yet another last night.  And Adam's???? Ahhhh, well he's got a great consecutive game streak...

ANNNNNDDDDD jammer2 puts in a waiver claim for Dupuis....and get's it....despite being ranked 10th on the waiver wire list. Some people messed up, cause anyone on Sid's line, he is gonna inevitably start producing like a mad man.  Don't know how Pols was not in on this, maybe I was lucky enough for him to be jammed up with OT at work.....lol.

I did put in a waiver wire claim for him.  I also got an email saying my claim was declined as you claimed him after I did and were awarded the claim.  I don't know how that works.  It's crap when the third place team gets the claim over a 7th place team?   lol

Hummm, I would have thought that it would work in a reverse manner, or have you already made a waiver claim.

Anyway, great pick up by Jammer, I think it will take a game or two for Sid to remember how to play with "Stoney", but he'll collect some good points for ya.

The waiver process is not built on the standings. It goes by previous waiver claims...for instance, I'm ranked 12th now out of 12 teams for waiver priority. The only way I can get a player through waivers is by having the 11 other managers not put in a claim. Believe it or not, it does happen that a player can slip through the cracks...lol.

I'm not arguing it CAN happen. Just surprised my claim was lower priority than yours. Lol

Just revisiting after 4 games of new lines.  In the four games of having Kunitz-Crosby Comeau/dupuis

Crosby 0-2-2

Kunitz 0-1-1

Comeau/Dupuis 3-1-4

Total 3-4-7

Avg 1.75 pts/game     vs  4.14 pts/game  prior for the top line(can you really call it a top line with Kunitz and Comeau?)

Hornqvist 1-2-3

Malkin 1-4-5

Spalling 1-1-2

avg 2 .25 pts/game   vs 2.1 pts/game prior for second line

I know that four games is a small picture, but . . . . .

Side note, one of the other reasons that Sid's numbers are down, during the four games, the Pens have drawn only 6 penalties.

Anyway, I'd rather see that top line together again. Sid with two grinders just doesn't make sense, but I would really like Beau to stay on the third line for now as they have created some great chemistry.  Find someone else for Geno to mesh with, let's not kill a great line to make two mediocre ones.

So after last nights loss to the Isles, Coach Johnston said that he'll be looking today into possible line changes.  Nice sediment, but what I was really looking for is an admission that he shouldn't have change the lines in the first place.  I simply don't get why coaches do this, you practice with certain during camp, you come out and play great together, and your reward is you get moved around to the point on lack of effectiveness.

Latest numbers on the first line change:

In the five games of having Kunitz-Crosby Comeau/dupuis

Crosby 0-2-2

Kunitz 0-1-1

Comeau/Dupuis 3-1-4

Total 3-4-7

Avg 1.4 pts/game  now   vs  4.14 pts/game prior for the top line(can you really call it a top line with Kunitz and Comeau?)

Hornqvist 1-3-4

Malkin 2-4-6

Spalling 1-2-3

avg 2 .6 pts/game   vs 2.1 pts/game prior for second line

Its okay coach, admit it, you just screwed up. PUT IT BACK

SIde note, hey at least we got 1 Power Play last night.   If this is the league is going to officiate the season, its going to be a short playoff season again for us.  We can't compete with teams that press hard and play the hook and hold interference game. Those games were like watching the old Devils.  The Pens really have to look at this, if this is going to be how the game is played, I had to say it, but you have to join in or there is not going to be a chance this year.

@nossagog

I've never understood why Malkin always seems to get the better winger. Both of them should be able to make players around them better. At least that's the way I see it.

Jammer, and it doesn't seem to change his numbers that much. You wreck your first line to help out Malkin, and he still plays rogue and just skates around with the puck on his own.  He doesn't make the players around him better, so take the bonus of having good players on Sid's line, and more others around for Malkin.

Well the  two lines will be different for tonights game against the B's.

Spalling-Crosby-Hornqvist

Kunitz-Malkin-Comeau

I guess that's a start, but why not go back to the ORIGINAL FRIGGIN LINES THAT WORKED!

Sorry, lost my cool for a second there, I tried to use sense, and it conflicted with reality.
