hf101
Hextall said Gostisbehere's ACL surgery could not have have gone better as it was only his ACL that was torn and no other damage. Ghost is expected to play again in 3 to 3.5 months. "Sometimes there are other elements involved, but there was nothing else," Hextall said before Saturday's game in Montreal. "The information was as good as we could have gotten." Ghost will rehab in Philly with McCrossin and sit with Kjell Samuelsson during Flyers home games. "He can watch Del Zotto and Streit and the other defensemen, and he can learn a lot," "He can find a way in the next few months to get better. Just by watching, you can learn a lot - and be better for it when he comes back." -- Hextall--(hmmm... that is interesting you mean he wouldn't learn more watching the Phantoms? I mean he could have stayed with the Flyers... [conspiracy theory is definitely in play here] Luke Schenn may be ready to play on Wednesday against the Rangers but is more likely to return on Thursday against the Wild. -- The PK needs ya Luke -- what are the chances Coburn sits? MacDonald has returned to skating and is expected to return in a week if not sooner -- Take your time MacDud. And Sam Morin is expected to return to his junior team on Saturday. - I'm looking forward to watching him for the World Juniors.
flyercanuck
Great news about Ghost and Morin. Really glad to hear Morin will play this soon. Sounds like Ghost may be back faster than we thought. Ghost and Morin, ya, that's good news.
OccamsRazor
The PK needs ya Luke -- what are the chances Coburn sits? Well they didn't want to rush Ghost developing him i hope the same is true about not wanting to rush him back from injury. Why would Coburn sit he is their best defenseman???? Just because he was on the ice for 9 goals against the last 3 games it was the other guys fault and the goaltender whom ever it was................yeah that is the ticket

OccamsRazor
Really dude?Really dude...other teams expect their best defenseman to play up to standards so I'm expecting Coburn to as well, this has been going on for years with his brain farts. So if we are going to complain about others playing like doo doo on this team then Coburn should be held accoutable as well.If you wants to make excuses and over look him than by all go ahead but at the same time I don't have to.We can agree to disagree and I'm fine with it...just like folks don't agree with/about Zac. OccamsRazor
Just go back and look at Coburns stats for the Stanley Cup final him was horrible most nights....not alone but when you play with Kimmo most of your career here you'd (or atleast I do) expect him to have shown some signs of growing mentally....and I just haven't seen it. You'll see spurts of it but at his age its time for more consistency. And if other what to overlook it or make excuses then by all means do, but don't try to persuade me too. Carry on. Coburn is what he is. He's a finished product. His points production (36 pts) peaked when he was 22 years old. He hasn't hit 30 since then. In fact, only twice has he hit 20 points. The rest of his defensive game can be very good, but as many have pointed out, he's prone to brain farts. It's like he panics when he gets into a tight spot. As an #8 overall pick, he has all the tools. The Flyers just weren't able to coax his full potential out of him.

Play mentally more sounds I'm not really judging him on points I'm judging him in his defensive zone around his goaltender and yes on the PK. What ever he is out there doing or suppose to be doing. And I'm harder on him than others because with Kimmo out he has become one of the elderstatesman like it or not its what they need him to be.And then when I hear he is teaching guys and running camp and what not right or wrong you'd expect a more sound performance at what he does. And for myself I'm not seeing it on a nightly basis, and if other want to say it is then I don't see how they can criticize any of the younger guys and then give the older one a pass. But if they do that is their prerogative. And to me the more alarming thing is how the hell can he teach when it dkesnt even seem he knows what they hell he should be doing.Just my 2 cents. I want him to be better but like you said its a what you see is what you get type of thing now.

Could not agree more. I thin he is the finished product which is a shame. As you stated he certainly has the tools but for whatever reason was never able to put it all together. He is what he is at this point.
mojo1917
As an #8 overall pick, he has all the tools. The Flyers just weren't able to coax his full potential out of him. Getting his face smashed in the playoffs was the time his development plateaued. That was super duper unfortunate, because right up to that point he was turning into a monster. He's not nearly as bad as many make him out to be, (ahem! @OccamsRazor ) he has not lived up to his considerable potential either. A big guy that loves the gym and can skate like that ...rats. the finished product we see is no where near what I thought we were getting when we dumped Zhitinik on the Thrashers. He is a good player though he is just not suited to be a #1 or #2.

For all the grief Luke gets at least he'll extract a pound of flesh while making mistakes...Coburn......eh I'm just tired of saying it. He leaves a lot to be desired to keep it short. He is best suited as a #3 I agree.
murraycraven
Getting his face smashed in the playoffs was the time his development plateaued. I think you are absolutely correct here mojo... He's not nearly as bad as many make him out to be I do believe this to be true as well. Although, I understand the frustration from people who are irked by his performance. Like we said: he has all the tools and can skate incredibly well for a big guy. I think, myself included, there is an expectation for a player that has all the tools and was a high draft pick. He has all the makings (or had) of a true #1/#2 defenseman but he never seemed to put the puzzle together.

I pointed out the other guys who were actually at fault for goals against, including the goalie, but no, we can't have logic and reason interfere with a good witch hunt. Giroux is on ice a lot and the Flyers lose a lot. Fire him too. No need to make excuses. Hell, the Flyers havent won in Philly since the 70s, fold them. They're useless, and we fans have hyperbolically impossible standards.
jackhole
@ OC Best suited as a #3.....I'm shocked you rank him so high. Honestly, he's a #4. His game finds no comfort in being the 'lead dog' on a pair. i.e. - with Timmo, worked well, Kimmo took the lead role Coby followed. So in my mind he's either a #2 or a #4.....so,............he's a #4. But a good guy at that role. Thing is that you just can't pair him up with anybody, its got to fit. OccamsRazor
No, I listed who was at fault, but you ignored it and only kept hating BRAYDON COBURN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BRAYDON COBURN'S PLAY not the security guard, not the equipement guy not the popcorn guy. BRAYDON. M'kay homer. You made no sense i'm watching HIM and what HE is doing....Coots and Read ain't making him stand by a guy at the top of the crease and do nothing to the the guy right beside him with the puck not even hit him and even when the puck squirts free still get beat to it. It's like in football blaming a WR who can't pass block during a running play and just blaming every WR and TE on the field with him for his inability to block. No it's the guy who can't pass block.........it's not everyone on the fields fault he can't block. We're not going to agree ol leader of Braydon can do no wrong's fan club. He still made the same bone headed plays with Kimmo. It's just Coburn and it is what he is. And i'm done argue with yourself.

doom88
Exactly, he's responsible for his play. If someone else blows coverage, according to you, it's Coburn's fault. You're done because you have no articulate point to make. Just a tired, restated opinion.
