Ideal Lines Moving Forward?

Risky:

Welcome to the board; I hope you have many good posts and responses.

I don't see Akeson advancing but if Luke Schenn can be a healthy scratch, I suspect the likes of Umberger and LVC could sit out a night.  Bellemare and VLC might actually be OK but at this juncture, our 3rd and 4th lines are contributing so little one wonders if the combinations matter.  Something is wrong with either the coaching or the ability.

Best,

Howie

Well, despite all the lip service Hextall and Berube paid to wanting Couturier to provide more offense and putting him in a position to succeed, I think they have failed so far on that front.

Only 22% of Couturier;s faceoffs are in the offensive zone, his 2nd lowest % over his 4 seasons. 46% of his faceoffs are defensive zone, the most of his career (the rest are neutral zone).

That is one area Berube specifically mentioned he would change.

Ultimately, Couturier is responsible for his production - but we all know that the coach is responsible for identifying how to put his players in the best positions to succeed.

All that to say that the Couturier line does next to nothing offensively. This is truly a one line team.

What do you think?

Schenn/Raffl - Giroux - Voracek

Schenn/Raffl - Laughton - Simmonds

Bellemare - Couturier - Read

Umberger - Lecavalier - Rinaldo

Would like to see Akeson in place of RJ some nights too.

I like for now but for the future with the garbage dumped.

10 Brayden Schenn - 28 Claude Giroux - 93 Jakub Voracek

24 Matt Read - 14 Sean Couturier - 17 Wayne Simmonds

78 Pierre-Edouard Bellemare - 49 Scott Laughton - 42 Jason Akeson

36 Zac Rinaldo -  25 Ryan White - 76 Chris Vandevelde

I my world when i awake from my fantasy trades of the team boat anchors this is what is will look like.........hopefully as the trade deadline approaches.

Yuck. That's possibly worse than what we have now. In fact, it *is* worse.

Akeson is not an NHL player. I am interested to see what White brings to the table, though.

Haha I post a lineup with no RJ and no Vinny and you say that is worse than we have now???

That is too funny I swear all you have to complqin about is Akeson?

I'll take it....he was of the few guys on this roster who scored versus tbe Rangers last playoffs. All this guys in the lineup and all ya got is Akeson?

No further comment....HAHAHA....enjoy your Thanksgiving.

I just say worse because it's really no better. We need veterans in the lineup that are not named Umberger and VLC. So you added Akeson to your lineup - and he was just waived today. I am interested in seeing White, as I said. I don't know much about him, so I have no idea how he'll add to the lineup.

Swap out VLC and Umberger for, say, guys like Perron and Iginla and I think that's a better lineup.

he will bring some toughness and grit, his game is not necessarily "that" but he is one of those "born Flyer types"... right now we lack that.  His injection into the lineup might make everyone a little better.

I'd be ok with that but just how do you expect to get Iginla?

I was just using him as an example - he plays a position we need, he's a veteran, and he still has skills though they are eroding fast. He's 37 now, so I wouldn't really be interested. A few years ago or even last offseason would have been a smarter move than VLC.

Some are an exception of the age rule he is one he is coming off a 30 goal season last year.....that would have lead the Flyers....but it's pipe dream for sure...he's got 3-4 years more before he becomes Flyers trade material.
