pilldoc
Can't start the new year without our favorite rumor monger. (rolling my eyes) Anyway..take it for what it is worth..after all it is Eklund...... http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=65262&blogger_id=1 Lecavalier to Preds or Panthers a Growing Possibility. Happy New Year Hockey World!Just a quick hit for you all, as I hope you are enjoying the holiday and your family.Earlier this season Vinny Lecavalier was rumored to the Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators. I was told both deals came close to happening, but after the Preds got Olli Jokinen and apparently the deal to Ottawa wan't to the liking of a key piece in the deal, the Lecavalier talk faded pretty quickly. Then came Vinny's season in Philly which saw head coach Craig Berube unable to find the right line mates and VLC not fully buying into the coach's system. That would see Vinny as a healthy scratch for a few weeks, but since he has returned to the line-up so has his scoring touch. Vinny is hot right now and word is the trade possibilities are once again returning.Nashville is the team to watch here. They are a legit contender in need of veteran leadership.. And remember Vinny signed in Philly in large part because he believed in Peter Laviolette. He only had Laviolette as a coach for about a week.Lavy is, of course, now in Nashville.Another team is surfacing this year though...the Florida Panthers. They are also looking like they could become buyers and Vinny is a legend in Florida. They are a team to watch when it comes to many possible deadline pickups...More to come... Lecavalier can't play wing. Ribiero is having a terrific comeback season, showing great chmistry with Forsberg as their #1 Center. Forsberg himself is a natural center. Hell, so is Craig Smith, the other first line winger.Fisher just came back and is on fire so far with Neal and Colin Wilson. 1st round pick Wilson is also a natural center and having a breakout year. The Nystrom/Jarkrok 3rd line is fine. The Gaustad/Bourque/Jokinen 4th line is fine. The have no need of Veteran leadership, as they have several vets already. + The Flyers signed Weber to that huge contract, forcing Nashville to match, so I suspect Poile thinks "Screw them". Nashville has no need of VLC.

J0e Th0rnton
hence that is why I laugh at Eklund all the time.....the dude has no thought process at all........My pickup of Colin Wilson for Nashville in my pool is looking better and better. Goal and an assist and +3 so far against the defending cup champs today. Game is not over lol. Since Fisher came back, they have found instant chemistry under Laviolette's system. The 2008 7th overall First round pick is coming into form the same year 1st round pick Filip Forsberg is coming into form.Highfives all around in Nashville. caluso
Eklund is a moron. "Vinny will provide veteran leadership in the locker room"Really? Where's that leadership now? I'm just curious. ..
King Knut
Kind of did them a favor. They've got him locked up for his career now. At the time is was some cash outmoded the owner's pocket, but at this point, they kept the best d man in the league for his whole life and they got our coach. Wiping our butts with lavvynasniur coach might be enough for Poulle. Let's see. jammer2
Fisher coming back so strong really killed any chance of offing VLC to the Preds. If he his gonna get dealt, it's to be a top 6 forward. We will have to wait till a contender suffers an injury, and then still we will have to retain at least a mill of his salary.

jammer2
@King Knut It may sound a bit picky, but I was wondering the same thing. My understanding is that posters include quotes so other people know the context of your comment, so why not post the quote first and the comment later? The quote after all is meant to be a reference point for others, so why not give them the proper flow to adsorb the information? It just makes things easier on the reader. jammer2
Unless he's dreaming of Floridas winters I was kinda thinking along the same lines, until I realized that Dale Tallon is running things there, I think he's to smart to add that kind of salary and years to his relatively young club. I suppose in such situations I must break with my conventions and seize the opportunity to convert such opportunities myself, as paradoxical as it seems. Wouldn't you say, my loyal companion?"
