All Star suspension for Crosby

Old School Hockey

Recommended Posts

Here Rux, let me simplify it for you in three easy lines.

QUESTION: Will Gary Bettmen have the balls to follow the rules and suspend Sidney Crosby for missing the All Start Game at the last moment

Answer: Yes it is a rule now

Point: I don't like Sidney Crosby and the Penguins and you're all homers if you can't see favoritism every day and I have to make a bid deal out of nothing to keep this narrative going.

Better?

And oh!!!!  If you think there is a Pens/Crosby favoritism let bring just a couple to light.

Malkin instigator auto-game suspension rescinded

Crosby nut punching with nothing but a penalty.

Crosby slewfoot no penalty or suspension.

Pens allowed for over 20 seconds to play with too many men on the ice and here the kicker the linesman escorts the extra man back to the bench.

I know I know I know just four coincidences right?

There's probably some rule somewhere where if a player misses the ASG due to injury, they have to miss one consecutive game with the same injury - not a suspension per se. That's my guess why Malkin isn't listed as out for the next game, since he missed one leading up to the ASG. But I'm just throwing stuff at the wall.

I think it stuck.

Kronwall has faced how many suspensions? You'd think with all of those cheap shot he'd have faced in in person hearing?

Try again homer!

YEP!!!!!

I guess that is how a Pens/Gary blind homer would see it!

All I'm asking is where is Gary and PUBLIC announcement of the said player can't play after the ASG for one game as there was with Datsyuk and Lidstrom?

Is that really too much to ask?

Would you like them in the stockade also? Again, the only reason there was a big deal make for Datsyuk and Lidstrom was because it was the first time it was done and even the press didn't understand it. Heck the Pens aren't disagreeing with it like Holland did, they accepted it. You're outrage is because there is not fanfare from the league about it. Read any sports page regarding it, everyone understands the rule now, so it doesn't need clarified.

You should have had this kind of outrage when Ovie missed the game because he was mad because he got suspended for a head shot and didn't get an additional game added for missing the game, now THAT was wrong. But to have outrage because the rule is being applied properly but Gary hasn't made a personal statement on it is, well, I don't have a word for it.

And oh!!!!  If you think there is a Pens/Crosby favoritism let bring just a couple to light.

Ah, I feel like we're getting to the root of the problem now. I feel like a counselor. "There there now, let it all out. Its okay if your team loses in the Stanley Cup Finals. You don't have to carry these things inside you for years, it only builds up and makes you sound bitter when it comes out"

Thanks for making my point. How many suspendable hits haven't even gotten to that point?

Your welcome.  Lather. Rinse. Repeat. (1)

Speaking of counselor. Admitting YOU have a sight problem per every counselor is the first step in recovery.

Thanks for the concern, but I'll stay with the denial stage. As long as I can use logic and reason to prove my point I think I can survive.

When did Kronwall nut punch someone again?

Ah - the old pick one incident (from 2008) and keep at it.

You must be so deflated.

How many times have players been suspended for hits on the beloved/protected Malkin and Crosby?  Oh right. None.

But hey - nothing wrong with Pavel and Henrik making up injuries to skip the ASG.

How do you Pens fans feel about Crosby skipping the game?

He played in the last game before the break, right? And there's no indication he got injured? (I'm asking honestly because I have no idea).

So his injury is probably pretty minor. I'd say MOST players at the ASG this year are currently battling through minor injuries. We know for a fact that Giroux was bleeding through his sock just two games ago after a nasty skate slash to his ankle/heel. So I'm sure he's not 100%, and would most definitely benefit from some time off.

So, as fans, do you think Crosby is legitimately injured to the point where participating in the ASG would truly be detrimental to his well-being?

If so, then I guess there's nothing else to talk about. If not, does that affect your view of Crosby?

Putting on my hockey fans hat:  For whatever reason, the All Star game has lost its luster many years ago(See other threads where I call it the Some Stars game) and its a shame that all of the top players in the league do not attend.  If a player has a valid reason for missing the game due to minor injuries, I'm okay with it.  But if they are missing the game just for rest, then no, I'm not. They're getting paid a lot of money to play a game, with the top players getting more that we can ever imagine.

Putting on my Penguins fans hat: Screw this stupid mid season game that barely resembles the game that we actually watch.  Heck why even vote in defenseman if they aren't going to play defense for the game. If my team benefits from and has a better chance of winning the cup if Crosby or any star players sits out the game plus one, I'm all for it because the end result is to WIN THE CUP!

Crosby's Status: Who knows, the Pens are so secretive of their medical conditions you could never know. He's been dealing with several things that we know about, hand and  mumps included, lower body injury is just another thing. This happened to him also in 2009, where he was voted in but missed some of the games leading up to the all star game, didn't play in the all star game but went to the game anyway to be part of the process. So he has shown in the past that he'd like to be there. No one will be able to answer the exact question about what is ailing him and if he could play other than him, but the Pens do not typically allow any player to comment on their injuries, so we will never know.

Rux, I'm sorry, I did not send in my response through the approval process before posting. Could you please notify the board of directors of my error in protocol, and if necessary I will turn in my resignation in the morning.

Well stated all around. Nothing to disagree with.

I will say that Crosby did play more than 23 minutes against the Hawks, including OT. If he was fine enough for that, surely he's fine enough for a medium-effort, no hitting exhibition game. Forget that it's meaningless - it's the one time a year that kids and youth can meet their idols all at once and in a more relaxed setting. Hard to believe Crosby's only been to one ASG.

During the Chicago game one of the radio announcers said Crosby appeared a hair off his game. I could only listen to it on the radio so I can't say he looked good or bad. I DID see his shootout attempt and I can honestly say it was pretty lame. I guess we'll never know, but he's sitting knowing he'll have to sit the following game, so I don't know. I doubt he'd do that just to miss the ASG, but maybe they've all decided he could use a full week off?

I have informed the board of governors.  They stated that since Datsyuk did similar in 2009 that there would be no further comment at this time.

Yeah, by then the heavy flow will be over and it will either just be spotting or completely stopped.

You think it's a period? I thought it more likely Giroux forgot to use his lips correctly and Sid got a bad tooth scrape on his penis. ;) and I do hear at F.O.P. meetings that Giroux is a nibbler...

Ha! on the last part.

The first part, I think it would probably be reversed positions since Crosby is Giroux's bitch.  (unless, of course, Crosby wears his Canadian "Mounted" Police costume).
