OccamsRazor Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 NBC sports just flashed up the playoff goals leaders since 2010. #1 Patrick Sharp#2 Daniel Briere#3 Jeff CarterPhiladelphia Flyers the NHL's farm team!!!
pilldoc Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 NBC sports just flashed up the playoff goals leaders since 2010.#1 Patrick Sharp#2 Daniel Briere#3 Jeff Carter Briere is kind of misleading. Briere was with the Flyers in 09-10 / 10-11 / 11-12 where he was WITH the Flyers IN the Playoffs with a total of 27 goals in 45 games. Last year with MTL he only had 3 goals in 16 games and this year he was with the Avs who did not make the playoffs. I'm still pissssed about Sharp. He was never used properly here and gets traded to Chicago and blossums overnight. Carter was Mr High and Wide and did very little in the playoffs while with the Flyers...he pouts his way to LA Kings where he is not expected to score and does well.

Sharp is just a black spot on this team's transaction history. Similar to Williams and Rusty, but Pat's a better scorer than all of them.Carter on the other hand, how did no one expect him to score in LA? He consistently potted 35+ for us. Give him some linemates that can pass and look out. He just found an aggressive streak in the playoffs with the Kings that enhanced his total game not just scoring. Helps if he's not skating in two broken feet I guess.

King Knut Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Voracek is better than Carter. Voracek + Couturier is way better than Carter. Not yet. He may be soon. But not yet.
flyercanuck Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Not yet. He may be soon. But not yet. Voracek finished 4th in NHL scoring. Carter tied for 41st in NHL scoring. Only a grass is greener is going to say that. I realize there are more aspects to the game than points. But any gm in the league is taking Voracek at this point of their careers.
murraycraven Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Not yet. He may be soon. But not yet.Not even close...
JackStraw Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Not yet. He may be soon. But not yet.Just to be clear, I'm not saying that Voracek and Couturier are BOTH better than Carter. Voracek obviously is, it's not close. And having Voracek AND Couturier is way better than just having Carter.
King Knut Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Voracek finished 4th in NHL scoring. Carter tied for 41st in NHL scoring. Only a grass is greener is going to say that.I realize there are more aspects to the game than points. But any gm in the league is taking Voracek at this point of their careers. And yet in his best year (a year younger) Carter outscored Voracek. But I'll grant that Jake plays a better overall game at 25 than Carter did though Carter's Teo way play was always better than anyone in town gave him credit for. But Carter's better now. He scored less, but is a much better player and the way he turned it on in the playoffs over the last three years elevated his game to a completely different level. I think Jake will be able to do the same. He'll probably never pot 45 goals, but he's a play maker and plays the whole rink in a way Carter only got to later. I also believe that given the chance (maybe someday) Jake has the potential to really turn up his game in the playoffs. Ironically what Jake and G need most is a Jeff Carter type to put their Magic play making into he back if the net.
flyercanuck Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Carter had 46/84 points in a year where the leader had 113. he was 12th in points that year. The leading scorer this year had 87 points. Big difference. One player scored more than 46 this year. I liked Carter a lot more than most did on here during his days as a Flyer. As I mentioned, I also realize points aren't everything, and Carter has become a pretty good all around player (and always was better than he was given credit for here) But Jake was the 4th leading scorer, and that's pretty damn impressive. I agree Jake and Claude could use a shooter.
OccamsRazor Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I agree Jake and Claude could use a shooter. And this should be a priority this offseason....maybe that guy is already on the team but maybe he isn't i don't want to see them going into next season wondering...some type of addition needs to added there it doesn't have to be a blockbuster type deal to address it but someone with the potential. I believe in Hextall doing that....at first i have been skeptical of him and his intentions and would he actually make the hard moves...and him stepping up and firing a friend of his for the sake of the team convinced he will do what is right for the sake of the Flyers. Sit i will sit back and patiently wait to see what unfolds...........them winning the 1st pick tonight will be the next step in the process...........
flyercanuck Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 We win the first pick and I don't even give a crap about wingers.
idahophilly Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 NBC sports just flashed up the playoff goals leaders since 2010.#1 Patrick Sharp#2 Daniel Briere#3 Jeff CarterWhy do this to yourself? It's over. Hell, the only thing there is to learn from the past in regards to Sharp and we finally seem to have a GM that knows that. So, for me, I don't care. Woulda - coulda - shoulda. We can all say that about a lot of things...

I'm just saying Jake hasn't wuite reached carter's peek production levels or his on ice achievements. Soon. I hope.

We can all say that about a lot of things...I didn't do it to me. NBC sports did. I thought I was just watching our old coach take on our former player and the #1 overall that should have been ours. I didn't go digging for these stats. I wasn't being a glutton for punishment. not me.
idahophilly Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I didn't mean that. I just don't have any regrets when I hear those 3 names is all. Pierre (the walking penis) probably hand picked the stat just for another dig at Philly in general. (ok, probably not but just sayin...they probably were not even the announcers)
