Boosh on National Broadcast

Commentary Guy in the Studio segments in between periods.  Nice to see him taking that game up a notch, though I thought for certain Hexy was going to ask him to dress when Mason, Emery and Zepp were all injured.

Yes Flyers seem to be good at developing broadcasters for the national scene. (Dork Emrick, Bill Clement, Jonesy, JR, and now Boosh).  If only we could harness this energy to develop D-men

Emrick and Clement were just good and good together.

The more recent ascensions have come mostly because NBC Universal and Comcast getting into cahoots and having Studios in town.  Now if you work for Comcast Sportsnet Philly, technically you also work for NBC Sports.  Easy jump if they need people and with NBC Universal pushing the playoffs and airing every game, they need more (and cheaper) commentators.  Good economics.

Greetings:

At the beginning, Boosh seemed very uncomfortable and stiff.  He has taken it up several notches and I agree his assessment is a plus.  I suspect that being a goalie helps--it is a "rink-wide" vantage.  I did not miss Coates this year...not one bit.  On that score, Therien has gotten better as well.

Nice change of pace from Milbury and JR

I often wonder how Milbury has this job... he is terrible, usually wrong in his assessments, and also terrible.  Did I mention he is terrible?

Emrick is HORRIBLE...I'd rather listen to Howard Eskin yell at Morons, Dopes and Nitwits

doc's hard for me now because he does the Devils snd he's so far up Crosby's craw In national games, but he's a pretty great play by play guy. Who else follows the action the way he does?

He and clement were a hell of a team back in the day.

Strader, Forslund, Gord Miller to name a few. Doc is horroble. He tries too hard to be clever.

Find a way to get Gary Thorne back to doing hockey . Great play by play guy.

I like Dave Strater and Brian Engblom too. They do a nice job.

Boosh and Anson Carter are very good together as analysts .

I would just add that he is terrible.

Emery does a good job staying with the play, but his vocabulary is a distraction to me rather than a help. His narrative sounds like Mad Libs.

"He [random verb]s the puck to Crosby who [random adverb] [random kitchen appliance]s it up the boards to Kunitz..."

So that it comes out "He shinnies the puck to Crosby who sexually blenders it up the boards to Kunitz..."

I think that's fairly accurate and to be honest it cracks me up.

The worst part is how accurate the repetitive "Crosby" mentions are.  I swear he randomly calls his name out when the Penguins aren't even playing.

The worst part is that I love hockey...but when Emerick is calling the play I have a hard time enjoying it. He's that irritating.

I watched too many games in the 80's and early 90's with him calling the Flyers with Bill Clement.  I hear him and the only difficult part I have is hearing his voice getting happy when other teams score.
