Defender
Mike Babcock just lost this team another shut-out by going soft in the entire last period and worrying about defense versus worrying about putting more pucks in. Right now I'm just lost for words. I've not seen my Wings self destruct in a game like this is a long long long time. Peace, Defender
hf101
As they said on TV - " They were struck by Ligntning" 2 goals in 5 min and then the Overtime. wow. This is a tough, tough loss by the Wings at home, and as you said that rarely happens at the Joe. This series has a game 7 written all over it. And it's going to be good. SpikeDDS
My prediction was either Bolts in 6 or a Wings in 7. Still staying put on that.
yave1964
We had them. My God we had them. The Wings were near flawless and as the time clicked off the clock it appeared that the Wings were staring at a 3-1 series lead, but then.. Damn. It is four in the morning and I just got out of bed, two hours early because there is no point in laying there any more, sleep is a rumor, something for Lightning fans and others. Not me. Tyler Johnson simply took over the game. In a series were Stamkos is only on television for not doing anything, a series where every single game the Wings seem to take over a bit more, playing the best offensive team in hockey the Wings had it won, game over, probably the series. Instead, Tyler Johnson. The most unknown superstar in Hockey. Tyler Freaking Johnson. 2 games each. Forget the past it is a three game series now, game one Saturday in Tampa. This one hurt but we have to dust ourselves off and pick up the pieces and get it together before then. Game one Saturday. Lets go.

yave1964
@J0e Th0rnton It is amazing Joe, how you remember the losses as much as the wins. I remember the first one in 1997 sweeping the Legion of Broom, then crushing Kolzig and the Caps, ect.... But I also remember getting knocked out by the Kings in 2001, a team that was not even worthy of being on the same ice. I remember Pronger upsetting the Wings with the Oilers in 2006 (8 seed defeating a 1) in Yzermans last year. And Giguere and the Sharks absolutely stoning us. Irbe, same thing. Paul Coffey scoring an own goal against the Avalanche. Swept by Marty in 1995. This one, we had the Bolts down, out, done. If the Lightning go on to win the series, this will make my list of playoff agonies that stay with me for a long, long time.
SpikeDDS
@yave1964Imagine this: due to other commitments to my kids' sports teams, I had to DVR the game. When I got home, the game was still on live in the 3rd and we were up 2-0, so I started watching the recording. Unfortunately, the game went longer than the scheduled recording time, and so my game ended with 7 minutes to go in the 3rd, Wings still up 2-0 and playing lights-out! For whatever reason, I just assumed that they would win! I was tired, and so I went to bed without even checking the final score! I decided to set the DVR to record the Red Wings Replay on FSD at 2 AM and watch the final 7 minutes in the morning.I wake up this morning looking forward to reading about our win and our 3-1 lead in the series, and then BOOM! The headline says Glendening went out with a sliced hand, and Johnson's line scored 3 goals in about 8 minutes to win it in OT! I about dropped my coffee!WTHH?!!The reports seem to say that Glendening will be able to play Saturday. This series is NOT over! Far from it!Not a good way to start the day! I'm debating on whether I should watch the replay of the end of the game or not!

jammer2
. Paul Coffey scoring an own goal against the Avalanche. To this day, that Coffey goal was the oddest thing I think I've ever seen......he actually wound up and blasted it in his own net!!! I mean, DAMN....how does that happen?!?! I mean, DAMN....how does that happen?!?!After you posted that, I went on youtube and watched it again for the first time in a decade, WOW what a tip in. What most people do not remember is he actually scored two for the Wings in that game, kind of the strangest hat trick in NHL history by a defenseman, lol.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrlVErwta6g&feature=player_detailpage

I hope the Wings close it out next game versus Tampa...Carle and Coburn a combined zero points and -7!!!! I expect the Wings to win..... ...but not without a fight!!! jammer2
@OccamsRazor I said it all along, the Bolts could have done MUCH better than Coburn when they gave up their 1st rounder....in what is shaping up to be the best draft since 05. A rare bad move by Stevie Y....I saw this one really clear, the Bolts got taken to the cleaners!

This doesn't change my opinion of him though and I stil like the trade.
