Poulin20
Didn't he paint some pictures of people rowing on the river in Philly? Oh wait that was Thomas Eakins.
OccamsRazor
Why? Just in his short time with the Oilers i never seen any growth and any change in the way they played. If anything it seemed they got worse under his watch.
OccamsRazor
Why? And i'd like someone with some more proven coaching experience. I want this carousel of coaching changes to stop.

I guess to me he sounds like a John Stevens type (not necessarily in how he coaches) that had success in the minor leagues and was given a chance with the big team. I know I am not a fan of Stevens, but it doesn't mean he won't turn out to be a good coach elsewhere. Eakins might be similar - I think he's universally hated by Oilers fans. Either way, I don't know much about him but I trust Hextall enough for now that he won't hire a hack like Chief.

Plus when he was with the Marlies they lead the league in a couple categories i don't like (10) most shootout loses and most goal against....nah i'll pass. I'll take your word for it - but look at the parent club. Is it any wonder? They're an organization in shambles and are going to rebuild. Not unlike the Flyers in a lot of ways. Not unlike the Flyers in a lot of ways. He needs a start for a club that doesn't have the expectations and ambitions the Flyers will....to much pressure for him in think. Todd to me has the pedigree the Flyers need. Like i stated Babcock hasn't done much without him...with the Lidstrom's, Zetterberg's and Datsyuk's and Kronwall's and yet still twice Todd outdueled him...........with a way undermanned blueline and questions in goal. Todd is the guy who can handle what the Flyers want out of the club.

Mason will be the best goaltenders he has had to work with so that will help a lot.
hf101
I wonder if Eakins becomes a more realistic candidate for the Phantoms especially since Terry Murray stated earlier that he would be interested in an Assistant coach with the Flyers. Flyers head coach Davis Payne - Assistant coaches - Terry Murray, Joe Mullen, and ?? Phantoms Coach Dallas Eakins, Assistant coaches ??

I mean, it's a temporary step back for Eakins with the potential of taking over the big job at some point in the future. Interesting idea... AJgoal
I did some reading on Eakins when the season ended. One of the main complaints I saw was that the young players went backwards in their development, as did the power play under his watch. His stint was fairly short, but those are red flags. No i do not like that at all.....I'd rather hire the NHL head coach...then with his help find a guy to coach the Phantoms who share whomever they hires vision/system of the way they won't to play. OccamsRazor
I maybe open to Eakins on the Phantoms just to get Murray the eff outa here!!!! Maybe he can do something better with the Phantoms...i sure hope he doesn't want to dress 3 goons for a game plan........
FD19372
Our hearts and 2015-2016 Stanley Cup dreams will be breakin' with the Flyers hire of Dallas Eakins. So, of course, he's the perfect candidate for HC.
ruxpin
Holy crap. What would be the attraction of Eakins? I realize he had a cluster of a roster in Edmonton and a worse front office. But what did he do that indicates he's a good choice for head coach of an AYSO soccer team? And can we PLEASE send Terry Murray someplace, anyplace, else? That dude is so tired. I don't think he inspires anyone and his hockey is stale. Move on people! I don't know why, but I fully expect Eakins to be the next Flyers' HC. God help us all. OccamsRazor
Dallas would give us a leg up on knowing how to tank for next years 1st................that is about it. So if the 1st overall is your goal then by all means. But remember next year the top 3 picks will be included into the lottery....so and even bigger gamble. Yes so we can go from a coach with a 33-31-18 record to a coach with a 36-63-14 record...makes so much sense...if Hexy does this he should be tarred and feathered. yave1964
Eakins was the sexy young coach a few years ago with the Marlies, he could have had his choice between the Canucks, the Oilers and the Stars, he chose the Oilers who went sideways at the least. His rep took a hit with the Edmonton mess but he still could be an NHL coach in the right situation. I think he would be better off with a young team than a veteran club. If he's better off with young, wait until he gets a load of the Flyers' pylon geriatrics on defense. Good lord.
