Arizona (Could this possibly be accurate?)

So I know Cap Geek is gone, but I was looking elsewhere at teams around the league kind of randomly and it looks as though the Coyotes have only 9 players under contract for next season.  Only five of which are under contract beyond next season and only two for more than two seasons.

They're $40 million under the cap.

Seriously.  These guys HAVE to be willing to take Vinny and Mac!

Assuming VLC waives his NMC's to play in Arizona?

If so, it is a logical destination, provided he does not mind playing in Tippett's chip and chase because we don't have enough talent system.

The cap is 51 million or so, and Arizona will spend about to rock bottom of the cap, including bonuses. So they are about 18 million.

The logical thing they have been doing most years is signing cheap, short term contracts to UFA's nobody else wants too badly just to get to cap floor. Expect guys like Mezaros, Briere, Stafford, etc to sign short deals. VLC's years remaining might be short enough, but McDud being paid 500k less than OEL for 4-5 years won't go over well.

@J0e Th0rnton  I expect Stafford to re-sign with the Jets...guy is a total professional, the perfect choice to show the Jets fine young crop of kids the right way to do things. All comes down to term I guess, but I'm sure he Jets will push hard to sign him up.

Think Frolik will resign? I would not be opposed to the sharks taking a shot at picking him up to play with Couture/Marleau on the 2nd line

@J0e Th0rnton  I'm not to sure about Frolik....he was demoted off a line during the playoffs....I would suspect if Stafford goes back to the Jets, they will let Frolik walk....if Stafford leaves, the Jets might be interested in Frolik staying...at least, that's the way I see it.

If you factor in an average raise of 20% for their RFAs, that's 9 millionish under the current floor with 3 roster spots left. While I'd like to think they could be a trade target for unloading Pronger's contract, or possibly VLC, I don't know enough about the new ownership's financial situation to draw a conclusion as to whether they are going to want to make a cap-floor move (VLC isn't even a cap floor move until next year when his salary drops to 3 million).

His salary drops but does his cap hit?  I thought that stayed the same throughout.

Cap hit always stays the same, but having a higher cap hit than actual salary is beneficial for cap floor teams
