personally I couldn't be happier for the guy - what a thrill to score the GWer in a G7. what can I say I always liked the guy. It's true he lost his way with the Flyers and I'm glad he's gone too, now that the Flyers' cupboard is stocked with some potentially great D-men.

@canoli

Never got the hate.

We got him for a rental (spmething we've done the exact opposite of way too many times) and he was one of our better Dmen the entire time he was here. Maybe that wasn't saying much at times, but it was saying a lot more about the rest of the lousy lot than him.

Coburn has more points in the playoffs thus far than Timonen.

Timonen is 40 years old and was brought in for depth. Coburn is in his prime and was brought in to bolster their top-4.

If Coburn wasn't having a bigger impact on his new team than Timonen, then TB would be in trouble

His 3rd career playoff game....first since 2010-11....what a bum...still glad he is gone.

Oh I'm thrilled with the trade and the return.  I didn't mind having him here.  I just like seeing evidence that supports my theory that a new (decent) coach will make this team look a lot better than it did this year.

Neither was being used in roles to score points really.  Timmo's playing well for the Hawks.  Neither one is putting up huge minutes totals either.

But they're being used well and responding well, which is all that I need in the way of encouragement for this team's future.

Classic case of 'even a stopped clock is right twice a day'. Coburn doesn't score a lot of goals, but he was in the right spot at the right time and 'made no mistake'. Good for him, but am I glad he's gone!? uhh.. yah. You see all the dumb penalties he took in that series?

They're both in the 2nd round and both their teams are happy to have them along for the ride right about now.

I'm glad Kimmo is in the 2nd round because the further the Hawks go, the higher round pick the Flyers receive.  I was livid when Coby scored that goal because I was rooting for TB to flame out so that we get a higher first round pick in this draft!  Nothing against Coby personally as I never really hated him here, but I hope he doesn't go any further than round 2.

"....yep, I suck, but that's Mr. Series Winning Goal Suck to YOU...."

;)

I would not get too excited and I was a Coburn supporter forever... but, typically his shining moments are also jumping stones for boneheaded plays.

I've no delusions about Coburn...never have.

I also know he is a bit better than he is generally given credit for on this site....and I understand why.

But fact is, on the Bolts he HAS been better than he was on the Flyers prior to his coming over.

And I there were no untruths when I had Mr. Series Winner tell the board here who he was right now. :D

that is the key to Cobie being successful in TB - he is not relied on as a 1/2 dman...  I hope he scores every goal for TB - as long as they drub the Habs!

Meh, I have nothing against the Habs or their fans. If they can overtake the Yankees for most pro championships, I'm all for it. Plus, I have Price in the pool.

That's because you live in NJ. They are 100x worse than Pens fans

Sure.. he has been. I don't think it's to anyone's surprise really... I mean, when you're traded from your 7 year gig, you'd better have a fire under you to impress your new team and teammates. Coburn is NOT a bad player. He's got a lot of good tools to be, at his top, a very good skating big defensemen. The problem has always been his head. He gets out of the game and almost daydreams out there. He gives up too easily and sprawls on the ice in front of the net instead of stick checking or taking the man.

Hey look.. I hope the coaches in Tampa can get more out of him than our were able to.... It's not like I want to see the guy do poorly. It's just that he's at the age where he 'is what he is'. Sometimes good... mostly average... sometimes really bad.
