flyercanuck
jammer - what's the scoop on this guy? He put up alright numbers, and has good size (6'3" 200) Can he skate? What's his skill level? If we're going to compete with the Islanders and Cal Clutterbuck I wouldn't mind Philly using a late round pick on this awesome hockey name. jammer2
@flyercanuck I really like the kid....think he has a lot of upside. Hayden was the major return for Josh Ho-Sang (well, McCool an 3 2nd round picks....lol). He's got a big frame, so lot's of room to put on weight...although he's not a beanpole or anything like that. His hands are quick and elite....very nice eye hand co-ordination. Like's to park in front of the net a lot...which is not shocking considering his 6'3 size. His skating needs a bit of work, but I don't think his body has adjusted to his growth spurt yet....he does not back down and I've seen him stick up for teammates, even though he's one of the youngest guys on the team. Needs to work on keeping his feet moving, can get caught standing still a bit to often....but I have not seen anything that a bit of coaching and experience won't fix. Pretty decent hockey IQ also...smart kid. Definitely worth a late round flyer, he has all the makings of a potential power forward. ....and yeah, I love the name too. jammer2
@flyercanuck Hayden gets roughed up here by Cory Genovesse, but hey...a 17 year kid against an overager....I give the kid props for dropping the mitts... https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=hayden+mcCool+fight+video&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-
flyercanuck
Thanks. I'm obviously kidding about drafting just cause of the name...but not really. It might work out better than drafting goons.
JR Ewing
Thanks. I'm obviously kidding about drafting just cause of the name...but not really. It might work out better than drafting goons. Yeah, I would NEVER draft a goon. Never.
flyercanuck
@JR Ewing Hopefully now that Homers not the gm we're done drafting them too.
Claude Monet
Goulbourne over Byorkstrom .... Best pick ever .... Keep drafting goons over skill! {••}
jammer2
@flyercanuck He's definatly one of those dark horse picks that should go in rounds 4-6....that could just turn out to be a great pick. Right now he's 6'3 and 195....when it's all said and done, he could be 6'4 and 225 or so....anytime you are dealing with size like that and good hands....his stock could really go up in the next little while....I would not be shocked to see him go in round #3....some GM will like the package and take the shot. If he's there in the 4th Hexy should not hesitate to pull the trigger. He's a year older and 2 full inches shorter than Logan Brown, who is gonna be a for sure top 10 pick next year......but you see a lot of similarities...but Brown is a better skater at this point. Gonna be some real fun seeing a Spit in the top 10...after a bit of a rut.
