However it would hurt the blueline now with what Hak wants with needing puck movers...that would only leave Streit...not good.

Unless the thing Manning could fill that role...which he has really shown so far in the NHL.

 

Some of it is the term. Probably just gun shy after getting off the #homercoaster but I think del Zotto still has something to prove in terms of consistency and dedication.

 

I just fear giving him, say, $4M for 4 years and him keeping his head in the game.

 

I'd go 2, maybe 3 and try to stay around the $3M range - if not just tender him and see what happens next season.

 

If he blows the doors off and refuses to sign an extension, there's always the trade deadline that could garner more than a 1 and a 3 for an effective dman.

 

Still time and lots of options.
