AJgoal
Murphy, Mullen, and Laperriere will remain with the club. They still need a goalie coach. http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=771451
pilldoc
i'm ok with this....obviously Hakstol see's something in them that he likes. Plus they will give him the necessary low down on the NHL.

Me too give them a chance with some real structure first...Hak will have a staff in place now that already is familiar with the players and they can give him the feed back he needs till he gets up to speed with their skill sets...they will have their best chance of success like this i think...Hak has his system and now he can convey what he wants to his staff and they can get the ball rolling on the guys he has to work with before camp even starts. So would @ErikGranqvist .

murraycraven
I am okay with Mullen but lukewarm on Lappy and Murphy. I hope Hak has the stones to make it his way and not the status quo that was last year. Was hoping for some outside blood... don't hate it but does not excite me either... OccamsRazor
Per Bill M.------ When all was said and done, the Philadelphia Flyers did not offer an assistant coaching position to Terry Murray to serve under new head coach Dave Hakstol. And i'm glad this was the way it went....like Berube he didn't get enough out of what talent he had....he did nothing to impress me into thinking this is the guy i want grooming the kids...i saw very little if any growth and combine that with the lineups i saw and his handling of the goaltenders i wanted him gone and someone else with the a new way of doing things...someone who can pass along Hak's vision someone to help the kids with the transition from the AHL to the NHL someone to help them grow....and Murray embodied none of that................zilch. The next guy should be a huge part of grooming the kids into becoming young men to be successful as much as possible with the rigors of the NHL. LegionOfDoom
I posted this on the Philly forum prior to seeing what was posted on Hextalls media interview at http://flyers.nhl.com/"A critical draft" video. They confirmed my words to the posters (prior to the video released at flyers.nhl.com)at the philly site in regards to what an why Hextall does what he does.... quote" First of all, what BS is filled in the breakfast some people here feed on, that makes them think what they think. Again going back to what Hextall has said, and engrave this in the heads of all those running their mouths off, barring the trolls of coarse because they are generally full of dung. Hextall Will NOT, again WILL NOT have knee jerk reactions to situations that present themselves, that is one of the reasons he will NOT talk to the media, he WILL NOT publicly lay out all his decisions/plans on what he sees are the intimate moves and upper decisions that must take place. He will be candid and express certain information to the media as well as fans so that the media can report something. Hextall didn't clean house when he was promoted to GM. I feel there are people/employees that have been milking it and have not pulled their weight and even Hextall has said that he will give those employees a chance to show if they want to stay on board, he will express to them what their job responsibilities are and what they are accountable for in regards to producing results. After this if those said employees are not pulling their weight, they will be released from their positions. Now ideally Hakstoll's assistance, at least some of them could of joined the Flyers, but understanding what they have now, it might not be worth to move laterally for the same titled job, with less security and more responsibility, even though you'll receive an incremental increase in your paycheck. In keeping with what Hextall has said he has been thinking thoroughly in what his philosophy is and he stands behind what he believes in, he will not make change just for changes sake. He also said that if an opportunity presents itself and it doesn't jeopardize what is present, he will attempt to follow up on that opportunity. Right now the assistant job positions might not hold much value in what he already has. The players are familiar with the coaching staff/personnel and making to many changes might not be what would be best for the organization at the moment. He didn't add too many new faces during the summer for the same reason, which he said he could of done but elected not to for the continuity of the locker room/team. unquote"
