pilldoc
Matej Tomek (NAHL Hockey) Ranked 5th among North American goalies in CSS’s Final Rankings, Tomek finished second in GAA (1.83) and shutouts (6), and fifth in save percentage (.928) in the NAHL last season. The NAHL has churned out quality goaltending prospects like Connor Hellebuyck, Kasimir Kaskisuo, and the Flyers’ own Anthony Stolarz in recent years. Tomek could be the next strong prospect to come from the unheralded league.

I figured this would be the guy the Flyers would target with #70 but none the less they drafted him...especially since Hakstol recruited him to ND now they will have 3 years before they have to sign him to an ELC....the goalie pool has received a major influx of talent. The Flyer farm has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 3 years.........it's amazing what happens when you actually keep your picks and use them like they are intended to be used. It IS amazing what using draft picks can bring. Wonder how many people still think losing in 5 games in the first round would be better going forward for this franchise than drafting Provorov AND Konecny. Podein25
Have to share the Red Line Report comments on Tomek. He was their top-ranked goalie! Terribly underrated: "Long, lean, flexible, fluid in all movements... The agility and balance of a cat...calm under pressure... Plays a refined and mature game... A real student of his craft and a work ethic to continuously improve..."
jammer2
@Podein25 I like the fact he is slated to go to North Dakota as a rookie. You just know Hak is gonna have some ties left there and the Flyers will have some say on playing time, what he works on in practice etc...McKeen's had our first goalie selected Sandstrom ranked #1 and Tomek #6 in goalies for this draft, so a real nice haul. Podein25
@jammer2 Yeah, no surprise that the Flyers took Tomek with the ND connection. Bodes well for his development. Red Line just gushes over him. And yet they had Sandstrom ranked 240th! Go figure eh?
