If he can bring success to the Flyers netminders like he did with the Kings, then the Flyers are well oin their way to recovery. http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/kim-dillabaugh-accepts-job-flyers-goalie-coach While the Flyers didn’t locate a backup goaltender to Steve Mason at the NHL draft, they hammered out the final details on hiring a goalie coach.Kim Dillabaugh has accepted the job to replace Jeff Reese, who resigned in March. An announcement from the Flyers is expected this coming week.He was the Kings’ director of goaltending development.“He decided to go to the Flyers because he’s got a fair contract and his relationship with Hexy,” Kings general manager Dean Lombardi told CSNPhilly.com. “It was a smart move.”Lombardi allowed Dillabaugh to speak to several NHL clubs before he chose the Flyers.Dillabaugh, who the Flyers have been talking to for a while, has a strong working relationship with Flyers general manager Ron Hextall -– six years -- and had been with Los Angeles for eight years.A former goalie himself, the 37-year-old Dillabaugh played in the WHL with Kelowna and Calgary in the 1990s, then spent 10 years working with the Goaltender Development Institute.Dillabaugh was goalie coach for Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team (2004 and 2006 Junior World Cup), as well as Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence (POE) Goaltending Camp for four years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He sounds like a keeper and knows what he is doing. Maybe the Flyers can trade Luke to the Stars for the rights to Enroth....wishful thinking i know but the Flyers need a backup...plus a salary dump... OccamsRazor
Luke's too valuable a trade chip to trade for the rights to a UFA goaltender. Really you think he has some real value in today's NHL where speed is a prerequisite??? Ok i hope you're right...no matter how it falls i think him and Gagner if they keep him will be nice trade chips come the deadline time if they prove they aren't important parts. I absolutely think he's worth more than a 6th round pick. That's all I'd give up for 3 days of exclusive negotiating rights.

Fair enough i was just looking at it as getting out from under his 3.6mill deal for this year. But he is a right hand shot and the only other one is Gudas. I'd trade him for the rights to a UFA back-up Just get him off the team.
AJgoal
Anywho, on topic, looks like a solid non-player move. Kings have produced some pretty good goaltending talent in the recent past. As with everything this offseason, time will tell, but looks like another step in the right direction.

But he is a right hand shot and the only other one is Gudas.Luke should stick around til deadline time. His contract is a cake walk and under a coach with half a brain, who knows if he'll be valuable. Either way I think his value is higher at the deadline. AJgoal
No, director of goalie development. Several teams are moving to that as sort of a secondary goalie coach.

AJgoal
Meltzer's take (http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=69626): 3) Although no official announcement has been made yet by the Flyers, multiple sources say that the team has hired Kim Dillabaugh as its new NHL goaltending coach. A formal announcement is expected this week.Dillaugh spent the last eight years as the Los Angeles Kings' goaltending development coach. He worked with Hextall, formerly the Kings' assistant general manager and the general manager of the AHL's Manchester Monarchs, for six years. Several NHL teams asked Kings' general manager Dean Lombardi for permission to speak to the 37-year-old Dillabaugh this offseason, and Dillabaugh opted to accept the Flyers' offer. It is not currently known if Hextall intends to hire a separate goaltending development coach to work in conjunction with Dillabaugh. A growing number of NHL organizations have added a goalie development position instead of having the entire responsibility -- both at the NHL level and assisting prospects -- on one person. After the Flyers drafted three goaltenders in the 2015 NHL Draft -- Swedish netminder Felix Sandström, University of North Dakota bound Slovak goalie Matej Tomek and towering Russian goalie Ivan Fedotov -- the organization now has five prospect-aged goaltenders in the development system. Former second-round pick Anthony Stolarz is set to play his second pro season with the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms while Merrick Madsen will enter his sophomore year at Harvard University.Adding a full-time or part-time goalie development coach to current full-time development coaches Kjell Samuelsson (defensemen) and John Riley (forwards) would seem to be the next logical step in streamlining the organization's developmental approach. That is the key in making this work. The fact that Mason is genuinely excited to be working with Dillabaugh has got to be a huge relief for everyone in the organization. After how things went down with Reese, it's good to see that Mason is ready to step his game up to the next level. I'll call it right now - Mason will challenge Price and Rinne for the Vezina.
