Can they move Lecavalier? Redux II - the sequel

There are 5 or 6 teams that are still nowhere near the cap floor so we can hope someone will take Vinny.

Not really. Nashville is the worst off with 3.5 million under and 17 players signed. Nobody else is at more than 1.5. Looks like Arizone will make it without Pronger's contract once they sign their RFAs.

That's what I guess from listening to TSN. They said there were 5-6 teams that still had a bunch of work to do to reach the floor.

@radoran

I think Vinnie might look at anywhere as better than Philly right now.

yeah - he "might"

But I don't see him wanting to play out the string for three more seasons in Phoenix. Or another "gotta make the cap floor" team (which as AJ points out, there are fewer and fewer of).

He signed with the Flyers "to win" - picking them over other "good" teams looking for his services because #homercoaster ponied up an extra year. #winning

I'd trade him for a laurel and a hearty handshake - and you don't need to give me the laurel.

Or the handshake.

To be honest, I think Vinny could still bring value to a team if he remains healthy and isn't stuck on the 4th line.  Mind you, I do not want to see him on this team any longer, but if he is not able to be traded by the start of the season, hopefully they can find a role for him on the team that builds up some trade value that get a team interested in bringing him on board.  If his contract wasn't such an albatross, I don't think finding a trade partner would be this hard.  I don't think he is as bad a player as he has seemed since joining this team.  I really think a lot of things have factored into this disaster that Homer got us into.

It's funny how Vinny thinks the Flyers are Berube was the reason why he stinks

Fixed it for you :)

This is another reason I don't see him just willy nilly accepting a trade to a perennial loser to finish out the next three seasons.

All we can hope for is if, God and Hextall forbid he is still a Flyer in October, that he is so sick and tired of being a healthy scratch that he lets go of this "I don't want to get traded there" list and accepts whoever the hell has room and interest in him. Just who the hell does Vinny think he is?

Sure! VLC + two 1st round draft picks and we'll take him and his entire albatross contract off your hands.  :cool[1]:

Well, I don't think 2 1sts, but I could see a pot being sweetened to have VLC play out his declined years in Toronto.

After all, He would feel right at home wearing Tampa Bay's colors. And Everybody wants to play for the Leafs.

Is it possible that VINNY would reject trades just singe could get bought out and THEN sign with another team and make back his losses and then a little?

I still say he still has game to give, but i do hope he gives it elsewhere

Honestly I don't know what he's got left, but I do know that Berube made everyone on that team look moronic.

His system was non existent.

I dont know that I definitively accept it, but I believe Vinny could very well have a much better game to give

Greetings:

I think he blew it by indicting Berube.  That probably makes him poison anywhere....reasoning will be he is blaming others for his decline and a ticking time bomb. I suspect we are stuck with this dude till the end..we will see a demotion at some point as an implicit effort to nudge him toward retirement.  Sorry to disappoint my board colleagues but this is too long and too expensive a burden for a team; he ain't Marc Savard...while depriving an up-and-coming good player. This is Homer's gift that keeps on...biting us in the arse.

Allo Howie,

I'm not so sure he blew it. I didn't really feel his comments were out of line really. They were more simply stating the facts of the matter. I didn't see it as an indictment of Berube, but I can certainly see how it could be perceived that way.

Given that we haven't seen teams lining up for Berube's services this summer... I think a lot of teams would tend to maybe agree, or at least excuse, Vinny's stance.

Dear Bak:

Good to hear from you. I hope all is well.

I didn't shed too many tears with Chief's departure and he may have risen to his level of incompetence...it happens to lots of folks. That said, I don't see many takers for VLC.  I think this gets ugly for all parties.  And sad too. I don't wish him badly.  He looked out for number one and got a contract that was probably insane.  Maybe we will luck out but my gut says no.

Peace

So now the rumor is that not only are the Flyers looking to unload VLC's contract (duh), but that they are also trying to acquire Shattenkirk from the Blues:

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/rumor-roundup-shattenkirk-lecavalier-and-bozak-trade-talk-continues/

"CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty cites a league source claiming the Blues discussed Shattenkirk with the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers. Haggerty claims the Boston Bruins had previous interest in the Blues defenseman, but isn’t aware if they’re in on him now.

"Any deal involving Shattenkirk going to the Rangers, Flyers or Bruins must involve one or two salaried players heading to St. Louis. Those clubs have limited cap space and can’t afford to shoehorn Shattenkirk’s cap hit under their current payrolls."

I like the Shattenkirk idea, but I can't see the Blues wanting to take salary back; especially since Tarasenko is going to command big money when his contract is up.

I think the Flyers are on the hook with this one unless they send some serious names the other way.

I wish instead of Pronger, Hextall could have sent VLC to Az.
