You still keep referencing playoff lines. This was to talk about the regular season. It remains to be seen if the Sharks will even make the playoffs.

 

Also, Marleau may have taken faceoffs over the last couple of years while playing left wing, but it was not because he has a different shooting hand than Couture. They are both left handed shots, so obviously Todd wanted to keep Couture at the center position. I agree that he is best at the center position.

 

You also keep saying that Timo Meier is a product of Ehlers, which might be true. BUT, good players make other players better. What's to say that Meier can't play well with good players like Couture or Thornton? Would that not be the same as saying he was a product of Ehlers? Does it matter as long as he gets results? Take a look at Patrick Maroon in Anaheim. He is a pretty awful player, except when he plays with Getzlaf and Perry. He produces in that situation. It was a bad thing? No. So what does it matter? Meier looked good with AND without Ehlers, so we will see how he plays next year.
