Soviet hockey resources?

If you spend any time in this part of the forum, you know about my interest in hockey history and my desire to learn more about it. One of the areas of my knowledge with the most holes is that of European players that didn't play in the NHL. I'd like to start filling in those gaps, especially with players from the Soviet Union since that country was so strong in hockey. I've been trying to find resources for stats, standings, and information with little luck. Does anyone here have any ideas of where to look?

Well, I will go the obvious route and say you may want to start with the KHL's own website.

There is an English version of it here:

http://en.khl.ru/official/about/

Not sure how that may help as far as past players, but it does show teams in their divisions and current player rosters.

I suppose like NHL.com here, they run articles about various things regarding their league (including stats) and it may be possible to find things on past players/teams as well.

Also, Scott, a quick google search using the terms 'Soviet Hockey History', yielded these sites that may be of use to you:

http://www.chidlovski.com/personal/1954/

A site apparently dedicated to CCCP Hockey.

And this,

https://russkiyhockey.wordpress.com/

Site/blog that is seemingly dedicated to Russian players from various time periods.

@TropicalFruitGirl26 The sites in that second post look pretty good. I'll dig in more when I can later. I did searches for "Soviet hockey league" and "Soviet hockey players" and found a few things, but I think I somehow failed to try that obvious search... Lol

This is not a bad place to start: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Army_(film)

I saw it in the spring - while I was in Fargo, and it's really very good. The guy's research was truly impressive. He tacked down the old coaches and had film of Soviet practices and behind the scenes stuff. Really amazing. Also funny.
