@ruxpin  I have the entire first line for Columbus....Johansen, Foligno and Sadd....really, really hoping they tear it up. They are scheduled to be the top pp unit also...I have they click fast, cause there is a lot of other talent on that team.

Your 2015 Elsinore Catamounts

C - Bjustad, Couturier
C, LW - Couture, Sharp

LW, RW - Ovechkin, Simmonds, Ryan
RW - Gaborik, Kucherov, Jagr

D - Karlsson, Weber, Markov, Pietrangelo

G - Mason, Anderson

The Yahoo! draft interface sucked. I got screwed on the Pietrangelo pick (had no intention of drafting him - but it could be worse. Hoping that he's on the STL top PP)

I like the overall look of the team much better this season than my 11th-place last season. Sharp is looking to start out on the Stars' top line with Benn and Seguin.

Debated Couture or Bishop as my #2 overall pick and went with Couture for the future. May bite me with goalie starts again this season, but I like him long term over Bishop.

That's the effect I was going for with Seguin/Benn and Turris/Stone.

Oddly, my team is largely reconstituted, but glaring difference in goal and on defense.

We'll see.

I thought Sharp was supposed to be a playmate for Spezza on the second line to balance out their scoring? Either way is good, Spezza may be aging but he still passes the puck with the best of them

The Yahoo! notes say

"It looks as if the Stars will open the season with Patrick Sharp on the team's top line alongside Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. Dallas will likley go with a second line featuring Jason Spezza, Ales Hemsky and Valeri Nichushkin"

2015-15 Putting on the foil roster:

wingers:

Phil Kessel

Tomas Tatar

Thomas Vanek

Centers:

Bryan Little

Zetterberg

Filpulla

Backstrom

Backes

Vermette

Defense:

Big Buff

Streit

Jack Johnson

Kronwall

Goalie:

Frederik Anderssen

Jaro Halak

Ondrej Pavelec

My team is built for flexibility, Buff, Z, Tatar, Backes, Kessel, Little, Filpulla, Vanek and even Vermette qualify at multiple positions. Of my forwards only Backstrom qualifies at one position giving me a ridiculous amount of flexibility to play matchups.

PPP come from everywhere. a good 3/4 of my team plays first team power play minutes.

Faceoffs, there is nobody in the league going to beat me in that category excepting a fluke week.

Goaltending, Anderssen is always overlooked for some reason, but he went 35-12 last year and Halak won 38 games. With a third starter in Pavelec I will win most goalie categories most weeks.

Not loaded with superstars but well balanced and go ahead and overlook my club if you want to at your own peril. there is a reason that I have won two consecutive Presidents Trophies in both this league and in the philly.com league as well. This year I am not satisfied with simply having the leagues best regular season record, I am going to win it all as well. The other 11 teams are simply playing for 2nd place.

Served.

Even before I read your last paragraph, as someone who has never played a fantasy sport game of any kind ever, looking at that lineup and the explanation that follows, it is clear to me that should NEVER consider playing fantasy hockey of any kind. Double that if @yave1964 is involved. Quadruple it if there is money involved too!

Your 2015-2016 NAHANA Amish Kids On Fire:

Centers: Giroux, Pavelski, Taylor Hall, Thornton

LWs: Duchesne, Hartnell, Jaden Schwartz

RWs: Tarasenko, Callahan, Skinner

Defensemen: Keith, Wideman, Krug

Goalies: Varlamov, Hiller, Lehtonen

Not really sure what to expect out of my team... I don't have any read right now how good or bad my roster is. Many question marks.

I like interchangeability among the forward positions and in general, I think my forward group is as strong as ever.

Once again, I feel I don't have a championship-caliber goaltending troops, but in this league, this may not really be that important.

If you like, I can trade you Howard for Giroux. :)

Like @Mad Dog I really don't know going in. Up front, my team is very similar to the one that caught fire at the end last year.

But I actually think goaltending is very important in this league, if underrated. That said, I'm not happy with mine. It's a huge step down from the end of last year, but better than it was at the beginning of last year, so we'll see.

Metadeke has a very strong goaltending group, so he'll be dangerous. Of course.

And yave's is pretty strong.

Oh well. Good luck everyone!

@ruxpin Ha the two players I cut went Logan #2 and Hall #4....no chance at either of them. It worked out ok then....even the 3rd guy I cut McKinnon got picked up pretty quick....

I got back 2 of my last 3 cuts. Turris and Stone. I was really hoping to, by some dumb luck, get Bishop back.

@Mad Dog

I am sick looking at your forwards, just an amazing bunch that truly puts mine to shame. Lots of movable and tradable pieces to fill holes with on your forward lines. I see that as a team to beat. If you ever want to deal Schwartz or especially Duchene let me know, Varly as well. I plan on dangling Buff for the right offer.

I didn't realize he grabbed Hall. I was having problems seeing who was picking whom. That's a great pick. Jammer is going to regret cutting him.

But he made two great sneaky picks late: Schwartz, in particular, and Callahan. Rounds out the roster nicely. If his goaltending doesn't kill him (and he has pieces to move to adjust) he should be in the running.

@ruxpin

Yeah I had the 10th pick, I had about six names written down hoping one might slip through the cracks and BAM they were the first six picks in the draft. Figures. Number seven on my list was Halak, not that he is great but he will win nearly 40 games with good stats and after Bishop and Halak it was a drop off in net. I feel fortunate that he fell to me. Looking at Mad Dog and your rodter, maybe I shoulda went with the best available scoring forward. oh well I am dangling Buff to see what he nets me......

That's the fun of keeper leagues.  Until way into the season, you won't know whether you made the right moves or not.  jammer had too many good players, which is a testimony for his great managerial skills.  But on the flip side, he had to make some tough decisions.  I know for a while he was considering dropping Subban.  At the end, he ended up keeping Subban at the expense of Hall.  Again, right now there is no ay to know whether it was the right move or not.

Yeah, that was his choice (Subban or Hall). I think it was the right one, but he'll still regret Hall. His loss, your gain.

Thanks Yave.  On paper, yes, it's a decent roster, especially on the forwards side.  But so many things can go wrong during the season: injuries, crappy plays, benching by coaches, etc.

The goaltending is clearly my Achilles' hill.  Varly is my #1 tender and he was ranked in a middle of the puck by the NHL specialists. If the team in front of him plays crappy team defense, I am in trouble. And after him, my netminding looks suspect at best.

It is a long season is all I can say.

@yave1964

Yeah, that's why I didn't bother with goalie until later. With Bishop and Halak gone I figured I better focus on scoring

That was kinda my mindset as well.  I set my sight on Hall - simply couldn't pass on him drafting 3rd.

OK, how wrkng was I thinking Couture and Bishop was my tossup for #2?

I got screwed on the Peitrangelo pick where I was trying to go goalie, and now I'm stuck with Mason and Anderson and backup of the week. And after the opening who knows?

But aside from that I think couture is a fantasy stud going forward and adding him to Ovechkin and Karlsson in my keepers could be very impactful.

It's interesting how the keeper/draft thing can have us thinking about our teams long term.

That said, I totally took Couturier on a "Flyer" because I do actually think he has an offense that could be perfectly suited to second line duty, plus Simmonds.

@radoran

Couture was a good pick. I think I go Bishop there, but the fear is that once Vasily returns, Ben may lose some of his starts, if not #1 altogether.

Couture makes sense to me. Plus, it made @jammer2 wince.

I'll admit I liked that, but it was the Vasilevsky part that sealed the deal.

I regret it already....lol. In the end though, it came down to P.K being a top 5 d-man....and Hall only has the potential to be a top 5 LWer. The other factor, is how Taylor plays the game....pure reckless abandon, especially when driving the net. It makes for some thrilling hockey, but he's been hurt every year and that certainly factored into my decision.
