RonJeremy Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Straka is scoring some goals for the Phantoms, can anyone give us a scouting report?
Flyers97 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I saw a Phantoms game in early Oct. vs. the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Pens.Straka had a very solid game. Scored a goal and if I remember correctly; even had a fight. He and Cousins were all over the ice that game and were clearly the Phantoms best forwards. That game Morin looked lost. Was not a dominant player at all. Not trashing him or calling him a bust, but he needs more time in the A. He is huge though, kinda reminded me of a young Chris Pronger - let's hope he can develop into that.Ghost had a slow start in that game but once the Phantoms lost the lead it seemed like the coaches let him do his thing and he really revved it up in the third period.LaBarbara was horrible in that game...was hoping to see Stolarz...That's about all I can remember from that game.
OccamsRazor Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Straka is scoring some goals for the Phantoms, can anyone give us a scouting report? Well he leads the AHL in goals that is good enough for me when was the last time a Phantoms can say that. This team needs a LW and they need scoring and he leads Phantoms in shots on goal with 41 that is enough for me. Get his ass up scratch someone (Read for starters -3 tonight so far) to make it happen this group is getting shutout 4-0 nothing right now maybe he can help this sorry bunch....maybe he can't guessing ain't getting it done. If he can't you can return him. Edit: Yeah now shutout in back to back games...so yeah if the Flyers have a leading scorer anywhere i'd say get him here quick...can't hurt!
off_the_post Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Well with Laughton injured this may happen. At this points I would cycle as many AHL players to the big club as the cap would allow to see what you have there.

There are fine cap wise they have 3.5mill to work with especially with Streit out 6 weeks or more i agree let's explore the roster below to see who can help and who can't then if you don't like the kids yet you can look outside. Mark Alt is 2nd in the AHL at +12 he would be a guy i'd call up as well. Waive Manning back to the farm call him up. Scratch Schultz. Insert Alt and Medvedev into the lineup. That would give this blueline 3 righthand shots with Luke and Gudas....balance. Michael Del Zotto - Radko GudasEvgeni Medvedev - Luke SchennShayne Gostisbehere - Mark Alt On paper it would be the most skilled blueline they have iced this year!
OccamsRazor Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 So it sounds like no Straka they want him to work on his defensive game...which normally i'd agree with but the Flyers are starved for goals they just set a franchise low yet they won't throw the kid a bone and reward him and call him up. "To be honest, Petr probably played his best hockey in the last two years in that short stint up here," Hextall said. Yet as bad as they need a true LW and scoring...now they want to nit pick a forwards defensive game...i have no words to explain the frustration...#keeplosing http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20151122_Flyers_Notes__Straka_staying_at_Lehigh_Valley__for_now.html I guess they'll be in the top 3 picks before December...damn...no beer from Rux now!!! DAMN YOU RUXPIN!!!!!

Morin wasn't dominant and looked lost in his 2nd AHL preseason game? And can we all (not directed solely at you Flyers97) just stop with the Pronger comparisons. Sam Morin is big. Pronger is big. That's it. Samuel Morin is never going to be Chris Pronger. If he becomes a good defensive NHLer I'll be happy.
jammer2 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Basically, it's now or never for Alt....I don't get why he is being held back. He can skate with NHL forwards. Why invest all this time and money into a kid and then end up cutting him without a legit shot....makes no sense.

Straka has played 144 AHL games?? Alt has played 141?? So shouldn't it be close to make or break for both?? Both are in their last year of their ELC???? I'm confused....different standards for prospects close to the same age???
Flyers97 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 @flyercanuckI should have clarified it was actually more mid October and it was a regular season game that I saw Morin play.I guess my assessment just agreed with the organization that he's not ready. To me he just didn't appear confident out there, yet.I know, it's going to take time. Looking forward to seeing him in the O&B...
