@Podein25

I've seen him a handful of times this year. Don't even remember him last year. Love his shot, gets it off real fast and it's wicked. If he was 6' he'd be a top ten pick.

That's interesting. So he's rising I guess. I shoulda hung on to him. It took him a year to figure out the OHL I guess eh? Which shouldn't surprise, I guess. But there was so little buzz about him. It was like nobody had heard of him. I tried to trade him and got laughed at.

Cheers. That's Kyle Woodlief from Red Line Report. Weird that he writes for USA Today.

I actually read the USA Today fairly regularly. I really like their hockey coverage. Most would think that hockey would not be high on their priority list, but their sports editor has a real nice head on his shoulders. My "big six" for daily reads....

1)The Windsor Star.....subpar, but where else am I gonna get Spitfire coverage?

2)The Detroit Free Press....great sports section, and their go to hockey person, Helen St.James super knowledgeable and just a fun read. Plus, tons of Detroit Tiger coverage, one of my fav teams of all time.

3)The Detroit News....Greg Krupa is not a big name, but he is slowly becoming an awesome hockey writer.

4)USA Today, very nice hockey coverage...AND one stop shopping, love their baseball and football writers also...

5)Toronto Sun....really like 3 - 4 of their columnists....smart and entertaining...a nice pagkage

6)Philly.com....like the combo of the Daily News and Philadelphia Inquirer....one stop shopping for all things Philly.

I see Jake Bean set the Calgary Hitmen record for goals in a season by a Dman. I'm not sure if he can/will move up inside the top 10.

I think Bean was pretty fortunate to have Sanheim as his partner. That's not to say someone wouldn't take him top ten...but I don't see it.

On April 10th, McKeens came out with a new top 30 update. Some very interesting things coming out of this one....more than one scout is comparing Laine to Mario Lemieux....high praise indeed. Looks like McLeod is sneaking into the top 10, mostly based on his outstanding play against Barrie in the OHL playoffs.

Nice to see Sergachev, Spits d-man holding steady at #9 and Logan Brown, Spits forward still hanging in there at #15.

NHL Central Scouting release their Final rankings: http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospectbrowse.htm?cat=2&sort=finalRank&year=2016

Matthews still ahead of the two Finns, but the real big story here is Dubois moving to 1st among NA skaters.

Really like Dubois' game, he's exactly what we need. Big C/LW who has skill, can skate, bury the puck and has a bad attitude...in a good way.

The Steelheads gave the Colts a scare...obviously they learned from it and swept the Battalion.

MacLeod should always have gone top ten, he's probably the best skater in the draft. I don't see him going that high though...there's at least 5 players I'd take before him.

Mario? Ya, ok...my guess is those scouts never saw Mario play.

Agreed, never a good idea to compare a kid (no matter how electric he looked at the WJC) to one of the most skilled players to ever lace up skates. You can always find a more suitable comparison without looking silly. If Laine = Mario, I guess Marner = Gretzky....lol.

Laine looks like a great prospect. I think a few years from now people will just compare him to...Patrik Laine.

Hmmm, Finland beats Canada 4-0, breaking their 16 game win streak.

Why is this in the prospect's page you ask....cause Laine left the game after getting hit....he came back, but was favouring his one leg....maybe nothing, maybe something. I know it's an honour for him to play for Finland....BUT, if continuing is ANY kind of a health risk, he should pull out and let the leg heal.

I've seen a few mocks by Bill "the wiz" Paclack (sp) before....seems to make pretty respectable guesses, like the fact it's a full 7 rounds. Interesting, he has London goalie ranked #60, a strong #3 among draftable goalies...I wonder what a shut out in the Memorial Cup final on Sunday will do to that draft stock??  He could move a full round or more with a dominating game.

Button's final list out today, still has Matthews at #1: http://www.tsn.ca/craig-s-list-matthews-no-1-because-position-matters-1.503562

Gauthier all the way down to 43rd. Max Jones 42nd! Chychrun at #17

Looking at that list I got steals for my last two picks in HF.net's mock draft.  I got Keller @ #11 who is projected to go #6, and Rubtsov at # 21 projected to go #14.  :5726b5f801048_cooldude:

I just hope that Charlie Mcavoy is there when the Wings go at 16. The kid is the hard hitting puck mover right handed shot the Wings have long coveted and never get. I have seen most projections having us go Bellows or Max Jones but we need another winger like we need a hole in the head. Mcavoy or bust!

This is a USA Today article by Kyle Woodrief, the head scout for the Red Line Report. I really like what he had to say about Sergachev, the Windsor defensemen slated to go top 10....just based on what he wrote about Sergs....this must be a fairly accurate article.
