Thank G-d for Newvy; we are fighting hard but the St. Louis team speed is at nine while ours is about six. The only way we beat these guys is with junk goals from close in.

Howie

Good call Howie! Read just scored a greasy goal.

Listening to the St. Louis feed for this game......the main play by play guy just called the Flyers "the Phillies".

Right before commercial break, he said "7:31 left to play, the Phillies lead by 1"

Also, a few times, when referring to the Flyers, he kept calling them "The Visitors"....does this guy have a problem saying "Flyers"?

I LOVE live TV....anything can happen!

Not the best game, but a win's a win

Thoughts:

1) Pronger's lost weight!

2) I don't watch St. Louis. That Parayko kid is gonna be a stud.

3) Gudas is one hell of a mixed bag. The hits are fun to watch and all, but I always worry he's gonna do something stupid whenever he's on the ice.

4) Where's Voracek? That contract is starting to weigh pretty heavily.

5) The win was lucky. The way PHI played in the third, they could have easily lost. Kudos to Neuvirth for hanging in there.

Scoresheet:

Neuvirth +3

Giroux +1

White +1

Medvedev +1

Raffl -1 (I know he got a goal, but I still don't like him. He has no business being on the top line.)

Gritty game. Nice to see the come from behind against a good team on enemy ice.

Hakstol has these folks playing disciplined hockey.  It's also clear these guys fight for each other. While I don't think we have a "goalie controversy," Neuvy seems a lot more stable than Mase these days.  I like White. He gives 110 percent.

This is watchable hockey.  The guys are engaged.

He almost looked stoned out there tonight. His movements and reaction time just looked a little slow.

I find this is pretty much always the case. He makes up for it with perfect positioning and defensive stick abilities.

I always find him slow though.

Absolutely! Good to see Ryan White getting himself back in the game again. He seemed a little tentative his first couple of games back but now he seems to be getting the flow of the game as Hakstol wants them to play. The attitudes across the entire team sees them working harder to cover any mistakes their team mates make instead of just dropping their heads and moping about bad turnovers. The camaraderie is there again. They have talked a good game but until recently, this is the most cohesive this group has played as a team in years. As a Flyers fan, I have tears of joy running down my cheeks instead of the tears of shame which have been all to prevalent for the last couple of seasons. WELCOME BACK TO HOCKEY FLYERS!!!!
