I feel safe in saying that Jagr is the closest thing to Gordie Howe we're ever likely to see. I don't mean that in the style of play, but in his incredible longevity and his sustained high level of play. When you consider he missed playing in the 80s, his point total becomes even more incredible.

Did he really miss playing though? How much of his absence from the NHL and lock-outs contributed to his current longevity?

 

The guy reminds me of Steve Prefontaine, claims he isn't naturally talented just says he works hard for it. Impressive career he's put together so far, would like to see him get to the point where we can stop announcing the statistic that Gretzky leads everyone in points on assists alone.
