TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 @hf101 @J0e Th0rnton Forgive my ignoramus-ness, but what is a Rotisserie League? Sounds like a bunch of immovable couch potatoes with greasy fingers playing fantasy sports, but I am pretty sure I am wrong.....

Sounds like a bunch of immovable couch potatoes with greasy fingers playing fantasy sports, but I am pretty sure I am wrong..... It is the way NAHANA and most other leagues are structured. Instead of points per faceoff win, goal, assist, etc, going into a total pool, your goals is to win as many categories for the week as possible. Roto also has standings structured based on overall, rather than simply based on who wins the matchup. In our ESPN league, the rankings are predicated on win, loss and tie, while in NAHANA with 15 categories, you can win a week 15-0-0 if you win all categories(But it is rare) An example from HF's and my match from a few weeks back. Scoring per week can fluctuate, and with 9 forward categories, the two SHP and GWG are a bit more "lottery" categories. Especially SHP since they are rare and merely getting 1 can win you a week. GWG is a bit less rare and encourages having goal scoring forwards. FW really comes down to how many centers who take faceoffs you have on your team. Goalie categories are structured a bit differently ad you must have at least 3 goalie starts a week or you forfeit every goalie category for the week. Wins and Losses are straight up, while GAA and Sv% is their average for the week, while saves is just total saves made by a goalie. Shutouts are a bit less of a lottery category than SHP because it is usually influenced heavily by an elite goalie. Oftentimes, you can get 3 goalie games for the week in early and if your goalies do amazing(Say 2 of them get 1 goal games and one gets a shutout), you can bench them for the rest of the week to maintain the averages you have achieved thus far. in doing so, you can no longer get points for Wins and saves, but you will maintain your 0 losses, GAA and save% with a SO. Eventually, the opponent might pull ahead in wins and saves, but you still have the other cats locked up. If your opponents goalies blow their opening games for the week, it often gives you a lot of leeway to keep playing your goalies and try to capture all the categories. What you will see a lot of is late week movement if categories are very close. We have a max of 4 moves per week, and add/drop players will be on your roster next day(If you drop and add a guy Saturday, you can have them playing for you Sunday). Note, trades do not count towards your weekly maximum. Only waivers and free agent pickups. Dropping a guy and activating a guy from IR also does not burn a move. So if you are behind 4 faceoff wins and 1-2 points in other categories, you might add/drop a guy Saturday night to get an extra skater playing Sunday to increase odds And regarding standings. My team is teh suck, but shall be invincible next year!!. I spent the entire season making moves to improve next year instead of bothering to try. I lead the league in roster moves mostly because I was adding and ejecting rookies left right and center for the first 8 weeks.

Sounds like a bunch of immovable couch potatoes with greasy fingers playing fantasy sports, but I am pretty sure I am wrong..... http://games.espn.go.com/fhl/resources/help/content?name=scoring-formats Quote CUSTOM LEAGUE SCORING FORMATS ESPN Custom and League Manager leagues can be created using one of five different scoring formats. These formats can be further customized by the league creator by tweaking individual categories and points. The five formats are defined below: Rotisserie: Rotisserie, or "Roto". In this scoring type teams are ranked from first to last in each statistical category. Points are then awarded according to the order in each category, and totaled to determine an overall score and league rank. Points-Based: Points-Based scoring allows you to assign a given point value to each individual statistical category (i.e. Assists=2, Saves=1, etc.) Standings are based on the accumulation of points covering all statistical categories and combined into one total points column. The team with the most overall points wins. Head-to-Head: Points: H2H Points is very similar to how fantasy football is played. It allows you to assign a given point value to individual statistic categories (i.e. Assists=2, Saves=1, etc.) and each scoring period's winner is determined solely by which team accumulates the most fantasy points versus a single opponent. The end result is a win (1-0-0), loss (0-1-0) or tie (0-0-1). If selected, your league will have team schedules/playoffs and you will have the option to set up divisions. Head-to-Head: Each Category: "H2H" Each Category is the most common type of head-to-head play in fantasy baseball. Teams play each other one-on-one on a rotating schedule throughout the season, much like in real MLB. This format allows you to select "X" number of statistical categories. For each scoring period team totals are accumulated and a win, loss or tie is credited in each category based on opponent's weekly totals (i.e. 6-3-1 in a 10 category league). If selected, your league will have team schedules/playoffs and you will have the option to setup divisions. NOTE: If the League Manager sets Home Team Wins as a tiebreaker, the home team will win every tied category. Head-to-Head: Most Categories: H2H Most Categories allows you to set "X" number of statistic categories. For each scoring period (usually Monday through Sunday) team totals are accumulated in each of the categories. At the end the scoring period the winner is determined by which team wins the most number of categories. The end result is a win (1-0-0), loss (0-1-0) or tie (0-0-1). These results correspond directly to each team's overall record. If selected, your league will have team schedules/playoffs and you will have the option to set up divisions.

For my money, I keep wondering when the NHL will schedule the make up games for the snowstorm losses. Ill gain 2 extra games of Backstrom and Carlson whenever they do it and a game of Gibson and Theodore(Assuming he stays up)
