I Can't Wait to see Konecny, Giroux & Simmonds!

It would surprise me to see Konecny in a Flyers uniform next year, at least to start out the year. He's small, does have grit, but could *really* use some time playing against men. He will inevitably need to learn what part of his OHL game is applicable at the next level, and what part should be scrapped or improved. The Flyers are wisely not rushing anyone, so some AHL time is inevitable from where I sit. The good news, he has the speed, skill and determination to make a useful NHL forward, so the ending of this story should be a positive one for Flyer fans. The only way I see him sticking out of camp is to dominate camp....which can be done considering his skill set....but I sense at *least* a half a season in the AHL....and perhaps only a 10 game call up to get his feet wet.

I could swear I read somewhere that the way Konecny's birthday falls it is either Flyers or back to his junior team. I don't think he eligible for the AHL. I could be wrong. Agree though in a perfect world he would spend some time with Phantoms.

You're right Doc it's Flyers or juniors he is still 18 don't turn 19 till next month. To be AHL eligible he needs turn 20 before the end of 2016. That ain't happening. But he needs time to grow anyways one more year of juniors will be good for him.

Provorov on the other hand will be a Flyer next year i think.

You are right, I somehow thought he was a year older and next year he would turn 20. Looks like he will win the OHL scoring championship with some decent wingers....and depending on whether Marner returns to the Knights. Either way, he will be top 3 in OHL scoring. Don't really think that is the best thing for him, but dominating a league never really hurt anyone....but I do think his time would be better served playing against men. Just thinking out loud, what mechanism would stop the Flyers from sending Koencny to the Swedish Elite league for one season? A win-win....Flyers get to have Travis play against men and better prepare himslef for the rigors of the NHL, and Travis makes a mill or so as a 19 year old playing in Sweden.

Would it be better for him to play against guys bigger and stronger than him? Not sure sounds to me it may set him up more injuries. He is only 175 so that is the reason i wouldn't want him in he NHL mot because he might not be able to handle it mentally but i 'd worried about the physical rigors...sure that league isn't the NHL but they still have aome big fast players.

So i would do it more to buy TK some time to get uo to around 185+ which i think would be another year. Then just like Ghost put some muscle on that frame and fo from there.

I just think that Travis has accomplished everything he can in the OHL. He will play against bigger stronger men inevitably, getting him used to it might not be bad. Plus, perhaps he stays like a Danny Briere, never gets bigger....then playing against men should start as soon as possible. If the NHL is not an option, I'm just saying, maybe overseas would be better for his development.

The other thing to consider, Ghost was a skinny as a rail when he started playing against men in the AHL, and he is no worse for wear, plus, both Ghost and Koenecy have superior wheels, which can overcome a lot of mitigating factors.

Ghost got hurt his 1st year in the AHL...tore his ACL...and he weighted 175...he didn't add the extra weight till he spent a year rehabbing his knee.

You almost proved my point for me! ;)

except, the ACL was a freaky kinda thing, didn't have much to do with his size from what I remember. I do get your point though. I suppose it all depends on whether Travis can actually add weight....I may be wrong, but he seems like the type that will always be small....like a Danny B or Johnny Gaudreau kinda thing. I could be wrong though...

You could be right as well......maybe he doesn't get any bigger and i have to compare him to the guy he reminds me so much of.........Claude Giroux is playing at 5-11 and all of 172 pounds.....so i guess when i put it that way........yes if they think he is ready then by all means bring him on to the Flyers....Giroux has done just great in the NHL at that size.
