A question about attributing assists...

I looked at the score sheet this morning and saw that Neuvirth wasn't given the primary assist on the Hurricanes' first goal despite that sweet pass and the referee wasn't given an assist for kicking the puck into the slot on the 'Canes' second goal.  No credit where credit is due?

But the Canes gave Neuvirth the game puck!

We certainly can see how important Giroux is to this team. Without him this team is a top 3 draft pick team witbout doubt.

G is suk!!!!!

Team is 1-1-0 without him this year.  That's .500 baby!  The winning percentage without couturier is a lot worse.

Sure i guess if you put it that way...so we'll spin it like this they are only as good as their last game....and that was a loss...so yeah Coots is vital to this team but G is the Superstar on this team no 2 ways about it.

Ghost and Jake missed him a lot last night...they needed another forward who could actually hold onto the puck and make something out of nothing...it was so apparent in he game last night.

Especially on the PP hell couldn't even hold the damn zone eough to set up...

...very sad.

And real soon they will add two more guys who can help a lot in that department...Provorov and Sanheim....and i can't wait.

I'm just bored and looking to stir it up a little.  The flyers had power plays last night?  I just saw some guys throwing the puck around with no direction.

Giroux is the MVP of the team.  Without him, the team is a joke.  They could lose other players and still function, but without him, they are one of the worst teams in the league.

The Flyers had almost 40 shots on net, about 20 off target and another dozen or more blocked.  They spent large amounts of time on the opposing zone.  Ward was just lights out and Neuvirth was... cold?  Bored from watching?  They weren't awful goals he gave up, aside from passing to an opponent from behind his net.  Schenn looked very strong again, Gudas didn't kill anyone, other than the score and Gostisbehere having to start another streak, they played well.

Overall, I think they played OK.  They only have one forward with creativity that can finish though.  After read fired it right at ward and voracek put a shot right in wards chest later, I realized that nobody can look at the net and aim a shot.  They just shoot and hope it goes in.  Or they wack away and hope it goes in.  Or they hope for a deflection.  Those are goals you need to have, but every once in a while you need someone to create opportunities.  Ghost does it from the back and G does it up front...that's it.
