As of right now, we have 11.3 million in capspace next year.

RFA's to resign are Hertl, Nieto and Demelo

Potential UFA's to resign are Polak and Reimer, with options on some peripheral players like Spalling, Zubrus.

Goodbye Mike Brown, Demers contract retention. Probably saying bye to Tennyson, who just does not work at NHL level like he does in the AHL.

Things to keep in mind are, Thornton, Marleau, Burns come up UFA the year after. Karlsson, Donskoi and Tierney will need new contracts too the year after.

Thornton is almost a no brainer to resign and always takes a hometown discount. Marleau I would not resign unless he took a massive paycut and has never taken a hometown discount. Burns is due for a big raise, but signed at a discount last time.

Vlasic having such a bargain contract(NHL best for a Norris caliber Dman), Braun also being a bargain and Pavelski/Couture are steals at 6 million definitely help the situation.

Hertl will be priority, and I would not be surprised if he signed a 5 year. Nieto i almost want to trade for a pick so we can promote Goldobin or Meier or some of our other terrific young guys.

Demelo can probably sign a small 1.5 million deal.

Reimer i can only hope likes San jose. Most players do. Especially after leaving a media city like Toronto. but he would not be a priority signing since Jones is great and locked for several more years at 3 million. Polak if he wanted 3 million i would consider resigning for a year or two.

Deboer is getting more out of the skeleton of Dainus Zubrus than i thought possible, but he would be a  min contract guy too.

Will Wingels or Nieto still be sharks by the draft? Will Karlsson? Will Mueller? Mueller is good insurance for the left side if Martin or Dillon goes down, but in truth, Demelo is more ready

Challenging for spots next year will be Meier, Goldobin, Chartier, Labanc, Sadowy, O'Regan, Roy. Rod, Ryan

So far I am pleased with this trade deadline. It feels like the strongest we have been in years.
