Mason Injury

It was pointed out in the broadcast last night when Mason kicked out from the butterfly and recoiled a bit as if he hurt something.  Lower Body, of course.  End of the game he remained kneeling for a bit.  Here we are talking about riding him the rest of the season and, even if he's ok, he looked like he tweaked something last night.

Not sure if anyone has read elsewhere on his status, but it's obvious that Stolarz is going to need to play a few games here down the stretch.  I was originally penciling in Monday's game against WPG for Stolarz, but if Mason even remotely hurt himself last night he should sit vs Arizona.

So presumably it's a groin or knee. Either way, it's not good. A few days off isn't going to let it heal. He will continue to tweak it. Should be interesting couple of weeks....

Wow what the hell first Neuvy now Mason. It wouldn't be Philly sports with stupid amounts of adversity. This team is really making headway and now this. Who knows though I believe most of the time the things happen for a reason, maybe Stolarz will come in and magic may happen. My new positive look on life. :56ce53d1d6689_IDunnoSmiley:

This season is beginning to remind me of 2010. Tight knit group that plays hard and over achieves, going down to the last game of the season before clinching a playoff spot, goalie carousel because of injuries.

Stanley Cup Finals here we come! :CelebratingSmiley2:

Mason's had something going for a while now and he was playing through it.  Our med staff and our trainers are not great with things over the years.  There tend to be a rash of similar injuries that happen in a row.   Mason had a problem last year and was unnecessarily forced to playing in an effort to help Berube keep his job.

This is different.  I think Mase wanted to play now because he can smell the playoffs.  If he really has to sit though, we'll be in some serious trouble unless Stolarz decides to be a miracle worker and make history.

I'll just add that he didn't seem too concerned about it in the post game interviews.

Assuming Mason doesn't have something more serious, he is obviously nursing something and should rest at least one game.  The question is which?

Do you bet that Stolarz can beat a weaker team like the Yotes, Jets, Sens or Leafs or do you play the strategy game and assume you can lose against a team ahead of them (Caps, Pens) and not put mason in against the "tougher" team?

Then again, the Flyers have been giving up more shots to weaker teams, so maybe it's all a wash.

Well if he is hurt they need to rest him can they can ill afford to put him in a game then he gives up some bad goals eventually comes out and they have to put Stolarz in cold.

If he needs rest then rest him and play Stolarz. It won't do much good to lose both Mason and the game.

Ready...go!

53, 28, 10, 17, 35 and 25.

Can either be lottery numbers or the jersey numbers of the Flyers that have helped this playoff push.  :P

No argument from me regarding Neuvy!!!  I like him and hope he is a healthy option for the playoffs. I would also like to see him battle Mason for the #1 spot next year It was a tongue and cheek post about lottery numbers so I only picked the six "winning numbers".  I gave the nod to Mason because he is going to be the one that gets us in by damn near playing every game the last 3 weeks of the season with Neuvy out.

If this is Mason injured, I'll take it.  He has looked incredible this last little while, even in the shootout :goodjob:

Sometimes confidence is the difference. He picked a hell of a time to get his 1st shootout win of the season!

He seems to have it and the team in front of him does as well.

Mistakes may happen but if you keep grinding you can find away.

6 games in 9 days...hopefully Stolarz can at least play the Leaf game.

Depends probably on the outcome of the game the day before that one. They beat the Wings then yeah rest him. Hopefully they can win that one and create even more separation to give him a rest.

Well they play Sat/Sun, so maybe they give Stoli the start vs OTT, then Mase on Sun vs PIT?

or maybe the opposite, if they figure they need points in at least one of those games, and want to focus on making sure they get some from OTT...and the let the PIT game go as it will.  It would suck to have stolarz be a big bag of nerves and crap the bed against OTT, and then have the legitimately tough game be a must-win for mason.
