Mason did not skate in Glendale today b/c of ailing left knee. Would not be shocked if Stolarz starts against Coyotes

Last night was Claude Giroux's 29th game-winning goal, tied for 13th most in @NHLFlyers history

Stolarz hasn't gotten a whiff a of NHL action for a reason - he ain't ready.....also Hexy drafting 3 goalies last June isn't a ringing endorsement that he's gonna get there either

Having to play him at all is a dicey proposition, let alone at the end of March. Stay up late tonight and see what happens, LET'S GO FLYERS!!

That really has nothing to do with. They need to invest in some youth there. They only had one other prospect in the system and he was just a sophomore in college at Harvard so it is only smart to stock up there especially when goaltenders take time.

Stolarz is progressing just fine and has had a good season in the AHL. But giving a kid his 1st NHL action on a team fighting for the playoffs also pressure wise may just not be fair too. I would say it has anything to do with him be ready and more about these games/points being so crucial.

Other than Carter who only ever scored the empty netters in 8-1 victories that's a pretty elite list of Flyers to be on.

Flyers are 21-9-6 since returning from a winless West Coast trip after the holiday break.

In his 11 seasons at North Dakota, Hakstol's teams were 113-73-19 (.598) before Christmas and a staggering 176-69-24 (.699) after Christmas.

He hasn't gotten a whiff of NHL action because the Flyers have two capable 1A, 1B goalies.  Since neither goalie was overplayed and taxed it never necessitated him getting a start when he was filling in as a backup for a temporary injury.  Drafting 3 goalies wasn't an indictment on Stolarz play so much as it was due diligence to ensure organizational depth at goaltending.  Going forward they will eventually have to decide between Mason and Neuvirth over which one will get their contract extension.  At that point you likely have Mason/Neuvirth as the starter and Stolarz gets the call to be the full time backup.  Labarbera is a journeyman stop gap in the AHL and won't be around long term.  Ouelette and Knapp are nothing special so if any of these 3 draft picks end up being an improvement the Phantoms will certainly be better off.

Just saying

There are rumours floating around that Hextall turned a draft pick from that deal into a player having a "decent" season in the ohl.

Travis something...

Would be nice if you could quickly get Smith pulled with goals from Schenn, Raffl an Ghost.

Nice for my Fantasy team!

Great. Thanks for the jinx. Smith is going to have a 50 save shutout now.

No wonder it's been 22+ games since Coots hasn't scored. He won't shoot the effin puck.

Also Ghost looks like he is just tired might explain why he isn't as sharp as he has been.

Also if the Flyers got a goal every time they hit the goalie in the chest it would already be 4-0.

And OEL is a beast.

Does he even leave he damn ice???

I swear every time i look he is out there. Yotes have them an outstanding young top defensive pair in OEL and Conner Murphy for a long time to come.

Goal stands i'm not surprised from the reffing i have seen so far. No way they will come back.

I will say Mason should have kept playing though or threw his damn mask off especially since they weren't going to call interference.

  • No way they will be able to come back on a team who is allowed all that clutching and grabbing with the free hand like they do.

Yotes have a good squad and Tippett and his defensive system has helped them master hiding the free hand to clutch and grab.

As always it's the scrub teams that keep getting the best of them.

I'm going to watch TV with the wife. Goodnight.

Gudas' follow through on Doan was dirty. Driving the hip into the shoulders/head against the boards wasn't necessary.

I'm sorry... And I know this will upset you Flyers fans... But either Hanzal has the strongest left hand in the NHL, Giroux caught a horrific rut in the ice, or that was a Carcillo proud dive.  Hanzal barely puts a glove on him and he flips head over heels against the boards.  I've watched it a dozen times now, and the physics of it just don't add up.

I'm not doubting he got hurt, but I think he may well have done it to himself in a diving performance of Olympic proportions.

Well, you'd know if it was a dive....you've undoubtedly seen more of them than any of us.

Pens are rolling...nice to see you posting again.
