eleven24
Just reported. Emery signed a contract with the Flyers for the remainder of the regular season. Kind of shows the confidence they have in Stolarz

AlaskaFlyerFan
Since he came from an oversea league, he has to clear waivers before he can play in a game. I would claim him if I was a GM for a team battling for the last wildcard.

It happened a few years ago to the Blues when they signed Kyle Wellwood. http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/37767-St-Louis-Blues-lose-second-player-to-waivers-this-month.html

Are you 100% sure about the waiver thing? I mean really, he's playing beer-league somewhere and he has to pass through waivers?!
AlaskaFlyerFan
It was a professional league in Germany. Might be equivalent to a Canadian beer league but it was pro. http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/flyers-sign-goaltender-ray-emery-who-was-tryout Because he came from playing overseas, Emery had to be placed on waivers before being added to the roster. The Flyers put him on waivers today. He'll likely clear tomorrow at noon.

From what I understand, with three of their top four goalies injured, they had to add someone somewhere to dress two guys for each of the Flyers, phantoms, and whoever the Flyers use in the echl (Trenton, still?) I think it says most about their confidence in everyone below stolarz that they don't even want one of them on the NHL bench.

AlaskaFlyerFan
Since Emery has to pass through waivers anyways, the Flyers can send him to LV to play and keep Stolarz up.

Yes i don't think it has anything to do with Stollie. He has to be signed to a NHL contract before he can be sent down to play on the Phantoms and he hasn't played in awhile. Phantoms need help down there he may play this weekend for them. He needs some playing time before they have to just throw him in even if Mason was to need rest later this week. Get that rust off in the AHL.

He could just wait outside of the locker room Tanya Harden style........
