hf101
Will the league be giving Simmonds a phone call? Kinda playing on the edge there for sure, not the brightest move by Simmonds.

hf101
I don't know about incidental, it sort of has that neck slash reference. imo.
intheslot
Yea I'd say about 5 games and three playoff games . Also Mac d should get at least two games for diving. They better take a look at Cindy's Dive too.!!!

Hard to tell honestly from the clip and when i seen it live. Do they have a clip where Simmer looked at him and actually saw what he was doing/did??? hf101
Here is another angle. Apparently Simmonds did apologize to Murray, not that that probably means much.
OccamsRazor
I hope not they will need him for the rest of the season. Never know if the league sees this as a chance to help the Wings keep their streak going oh well what can you say....

That isn't really encouraging for sure. At this point nothing they can do but wait and see.
OccamsRazor
@hf101 So i don't want to hijack your thread but so does Kuhnhackl face suspension now?? Bill Meltzer @billmeltzer 11m11 minutes ago Rule 41.1: Onus is on player applying check to ensure his opponent is not in defenseless position and, if so, must avoid or minimize contact
hf101
I doubt it is a suspension, but it should have been a penalty on the ice, 2 min for boarding which would have negated the penguins goal that followed.

flyerrod
They chopped up and edited the first angle to make it look heinous........as soon as the stick made contact he folded it back away from Murray. You can see it in the second angle. Let's see the rest of the first clip they hacked up for effect. Shoving a guy who is already falling into the boards face first obviously is not as bad of a crime I guess......
Polaris922
Simmonds got away with the shoulder to face hit on Letang, then blatant holding/interference on Hagelin that directly resulted in Simmonds' goal. If we're going to point out calls that should've been we can do this for awhile with video replay. The officials sucked both ways. And honestly id be more expecting the shoulder to the head receiving a call than the stick to Murray. Though I don't think that can be called "incidental" either. nossagog
This is the NHL, no harm no foul. If there's harm, then maybe a foul. No suspensions from any thing during the game.
AJgoal
Shouldn't be anything supplemental.
Digityman
He did it on purpose and honestly he should be suspended. I hope he doesn't though for the Flyers sake

I say yeah Ghost for certain...still not sure about Wayne's but it is hard to it's not.

IF the Wings make it it will be by beating Boston for the third seed in the division. The Metro is stacked, I think five teams (including the Flyers) make it this year. That said, I think Simmonds deserves to sit a game or two for that. Cheap and classless. I do not believe he deserves anywhere near what Keith just got (six games including the playoff opener) but you are responsible for your own stick and Simmonds IMHO does deserve something. Hard for me to say that because Simmonds is one of my favorite players not wearing the winged wheel.....
murraycraven
uh oh, Pens fans showed up to the thread - cue the 13 page argument thread about cheap shots being/not being called! With that said I do believe he will get fined but this is not suspension worthy.
BluPuk
I always get these thing wrong, but what the hell: it is his responsibility to be in control of his stick. If I had been a ref on the ice and saw that, I would have called slashing or high sticking, 2 minutes. Or maybe attempting to perform surgery without a license . If I was the goalies' teammate and I was on the ice at the time, I would have dropped Simmonds (or attempted to). It looked to me like one of those moves where you pretend that you had no idea where your blade was, or the goalie's neck. Didn't fool me.... Not a fine IMHO, a suspension but maybe only a game or two.

My "guess" is, Simmonds just wanted to make a little contact with Murray to "get him off his game" as many players do. I don't think there was any attempt to injure, just a bad geometry calculation as to where his stick needed to be angled. Childish but not vicious. Question: For those of you watching the Flyers feed, did they even replay that?
Samifan
I did not see the game. I can only image what Paul Steigerwald and Bob Errey had to say about that play. (Inset crying emoji here).
