What Ovechkin thinks of the Flyers 2nd line Centers

Ovechkin has thrown some big hits. He's usually got about 30-40 lbs on whoever he's hitting. He's got the same points as Schenn in these playoffs and plays on a team that has more than 1 goal... but he does have 4 more hits.

I guess that's where the $10 million a year comes in.

Holtby is the Caps MVP IMO..

All the more reason provorov and Morin should be up with the big club next year.   Hope the kids work really hard on their game this off season. Be nice to see some size and skill back there.

Morin has the size prov has the skill. (Not saying Morin doesn't have any skill, and not saying prov is big)

I'm little confused by this.  What do these defenseman have to do with Ovie checking the Flyers centers in the neutral zone?

Nothing on that exact play because neither player is a defenseman. But if you are telling me, someone with the toughness of morin would not make a difference on the ice in general for this team, I don't know what to say.  (Another tough power forward with skill would help too)

This would look good next year.

MDZ prov

Morin ghost

McD gudas

Not saying it a cup team next year but much better then what we have now. With that defence and a better year from jake, I don't think we would be playing the caps this year in the first round.

He has nothing what so ever to fear....he is bigger than EVERYONE on the entire Flyer roster!!!!

There is no Chris Pronger back there to make AO or much less anyone on their team pay in the defensive zone or around the crease...or in the neutral zone...or in the offensive zone...or waiting in line for popcorn or in the ticket line or in the parking lot or....

...well you see what i'm getting at the days of fearing the "broadstreet bullies" ar long gone.

Flyers lack size and the physical play they use to have...they need some much needed size. But wheni say that i mean guys who can move too...

It's ok to have both. Teams don't give those guys away, you have to draft them.

I'm ok with that lineup except Mcdud...

...if anything else by the start of next season I hope he is back in the AHL.

neither of them can hold Ovechkin's jock strap right now. Not for another 3-4 years  if we're that lucky

Morin is not NHL ready yet.  He improved some after a rough start to the year but he needs at least another full season in the AHL.  Other than Provorov potentially making the team next year and MDZ getting back healthy I wouldn't expect too many more changes on D to start the year next season.  If they need to add a D-man I'd rather see them bring in a vet on a one year deal like they did with Schultz last season than bring up a prospect who is not ready.

I've been saying this for a while now.  The scary thing is that I don't see that changing in the near future.  There isn't really anyone in the pipeline that fits the bill.  Morin isn't the answer.  His play hasn't thrilled me.  Even if it did, I don't think he's a heavy, strong guy...just tall.  We need bigger forwards that can play more of a power game.

The speed and tenacity still needs work also.  I was watching the blues/hawks game yesterday.  I swear I didn't see one blocked shot all game.  Every shot from the point made it on net and there were two guys pounding away at the rebounds.  That's because guys are always moving with or without the puck.  Nobody just takes a shot in hopes that it will get to the net.  They make their own space by always skating.  Then they have big guys in front.

The flyers are so far away from that.

I agree. That is why I said I really hope they work hard this off season. Would love to see a one of the unexpected stand out next season (kind of like Ghost this season)  I'm just hoping it's Morin. We need that size.

And yes I know he is not going to be a stud and shut down the likes of OV the instant he steps foot on NHL ice.

Is that a lot?  Just seemed like they were getting everything on goal.  Nobody was standing still and they were just blasting from the point.

How many shots were on goal compared to the blocked shots?

Listen if you come around here using facts to back up your comments you're going to have to find another forum. Consider this your warning!!!

I was mouth agape on this goal. How do you leave Ovie that wide open... like ever!? Read has been in my doghouse all season, long and I believe he was the responsible winger on this play. He's been brain dead this season... wonder what's up.

I get what you're saying but ready or not even Morin would be a huge upgrade over Manning....right now. Dude knows how to rub guys out in front of the net and his long reach and stick check could be huge around he net.

But he will be a Black Ace none he less i think.

Not sure how they can do this....head up their ass? But you can not leave him wide open like this in his office he is deadly from this spot....and to not account for him is the reason they are behind 0-2.

He might be an upgrade in some areas but I think saying he would be a huge upgrade is a bit of an overstatement at this point.  I'm of the opinion when you rush players up who aren't ready you risk lowering their ceiling as a player and with the Flyers being a marginal team at this point that is not a risk I'd be willing to take.

Well, it's a lot more than none.

When there is 32 of anything in a game and someone doesn't notice any of them, it's kind of hard to take their opinion of a certain player seriously. Maybe you missed everything Couturier ever does on the ice?

Maybe I am.  Couturier was the best flyer last night.
