hf101
Although there was no penalty on the play the league declared that Schenn was charging and made illegal head contact. I'm sure Schenn will miss the remainder of the playoffs. -- I guess a fine or suspension will be implemented next season. Does it really matter here? Stop whining Caps, the series is over. There were calls not made on both sides. If the refs would have called the game fairly both ways most of these questionable hits wouldn't have happened. AJgoal
Leaves his feet, hits him in the head. Deserves a suspension. That said, he's not a repeat offender, so who knows how many games.
ruxpin
Yeah, that's probably a game or two. As an aside, we're witnessing why I cannot stand the Washington franchise or its sorry, whiney fans. Throw some bracelets at them.

I want to hear the DOPS explain why that was not a suspension.

Just because there was no supplemental discipline on those, doesn't mean that this hit is also not deserving of a suspension.

eleven24
Haha... Go Pens Go. Really, how great is the storyline of this year. Caps run away with the President's Trophy. Add playoff grit in Mike Richards and Justin Williams, and still can't get past the 2nd round. Come on. Join me on the Penguins bandwagon. It's only a 2 week trip. AlaskaFlyerFan
You know, I don't have a problem with the suspension because he hit Oshie right in the mellon. But I do have a problem with their explanation that says he left his feet. The reason I have a problem with that is that's what makes this suspendable. They show two slow motion angles in the video. The first is at the 0:45 mark and the he second is at the 1:06 mark. I see both of Schenn's feet on the ice in both angles shown at the moment of impact. Schenn was coasting in from the blue line, not striding the entire way. The fact that they claim he left his feet is what makes their call Charging and suspendable. Take a look and let me know if that's what you see. EDIT: They also consider Schenn a repeat offender per the video. He was fined once and suspended once, both in 2013. Under the CBA, he should not be considered a repeat offender since the slate is wiped clean after 18 months. I think Schenn should appeal this. yave1964
He A) absolutely left his feet B) appeared to target the head. For that, 3 games seems about right. But what do I know? The only guys who touch anyone on the Wings are Abdelkader hits every night and Kronwall about once a month anymore. The rest play as if they are afraid of breaking a nail or getting their jersey dirty.

This is what Rogers did while broadcasting the games: Wilson's board/hit from behind/charge on MacDonald: "2 minutes is the right call" (Kerry Fraser said it was suspension worthy) Wilson's headshot on Voracek: replayed it once, said "oh, right on the button..." Chimera's hit from behind on Voracek: replayed it a few times, said Voracek turned Bellemare's hit on Orlov: replayed it a few times, immediately said it's a suspension Schenn's hit on Oshie: replayed it a million times, continually ASKED for a suspension since Schenn had been "riding a fine line" the entire series with his hits

Most fans agree it's a suspension, but it's the fact that WSH delivered hits that were no different than what the Flyers got suspended for and got nothing. The inconsistencies and bias from the DOPS is a complete joke.

No question they could come up with a better system than what is in place.
