Devin Setoguchi with another chance to Prove he deserves to be back in the NHL

The Kings will give Setoguchi one last chance to show he's recovered from alcoholism and he will try to prove that he now in the best shape to regain a wasted career.  The Hockeynews wrote a great piece on what was once a promising career.  If he can put up the numbers he did in  in Switzerland, putting up 11 goals and 24 points in 30 games I think he might have a shot at the third line with the KIngs.

It's hard not to imagine what could have been with Seto. If he's drinking does not interfere with his game after his 31-goal season, the Sharks might not trade him (Burns would probably still be in Minnesota), and he could be playing RW with Thornton, and Pavelski might still be the team's third line center (scary)!

Hard to say. Setoguchi showed flashes of offensive brilliance, but was largely riding on Thornton's coattails that one big year. Defensive backchecking was nonexistent from him and he kept getting demoted and demoted...

I'd say he still gets traded. Our biggest issue was defense. Pavelski was only 26 then, Couture 21 and had already outscored Seto and Marleau/Thornton were still going strong at 31 and Clowe still looked like something. We had a powerful top 6, but no defensive depth.

Gotta remember that our Defense was Boyle, Vlasic and Murray. Demers had made it as a rookie but was not looking good. Braun was given a shot but not looking ready then. Niclas Wallin and Kent Huskins were still regulars.....

I still remember Babcock coaching the wings when we were rivals giving his thoughts on the trade and saying how much it pissed him off because it was a home run for the Sharks.
