Ugly in Boston right now.

To say that coachth?&id=OIP.Mdb538e6c8cee6f1eb72fa82e2abd Claude Julien is on the hot seat right now is like saying that water is wet, the calls for his head have went from a murmur to a deafening roar and it looks as if unless they reel of five or six in a row it is more a case of when rather than if. His comment after the egg they laid again the Pens about 'we don't have enough talent on this team to play a mediocre game' seems to be a backhand slap across the face of GM Don Sweeney who is the man most responsible for bringing in the alleged talent. Rumors are that Sweeney is trying desperately to add a scoring forward and has his sites set upon Gabriel Landeskog in Denver but his rival GM is demanding either Charlie McAvoy or Brandon Carlo in return which so far is a non starter as indeed it should be. But the coach wants help.

Now Tuuka Rask th?&id=OIP.M1639c7e2fb259c4df2550ee869d0who for the first third of the season was the leagues top goalie or certainly on the short list but who has fallen off considerably of late with a 3-6 record in January and in 5 of his last 8 games his save percentage has been a dreadful .875 or less. No backup in sight, Zane McIntyre is not a horrific prospect just raw, Subban is not ready, Khubodin was beyond bad before going down.

THN pointed out that of a possible 22 points that backup goalies could have netted in games that they started so far for Boston they have managed a cover your eyes bad only 5. All that means that arguably the least replicable man in Hockey may be Rask which makes his headache symptoms a scary thought for Bruin fans.

Rask th?&id=OIP.Mf95bc486b5de7f372719ac31d59ewas drilled in the neck with a shot two weeks ago by a shot off the stick of Roman Josi and went through concussion protocol and was cleared and defeated the Flyers the next day but since then he has went 0-4 with a .852 save pct. and a 3.21 goals against which is nearly double his goals against average before the new year turned. Something clearly is wrong.

If he has a concussion and misses time the dominoes will likely fall beginning with Julien being fired and then veteran players possibly moved at or before the deadline as the Bruins would go from possible buyer to almost certain seller. If Rask is out or does not get it together the season is officially over.
