Don't know anything about him, but sounds like one to watch after the first round. Pretty sure they don't take a goalie or d man in the 1st, but after that, it's BPA.

Agreed.

When is the last time the Flyers have caught a gigantic break??   Are we not due??  Let's all heave together one massive positive thought and literally wish the Flyers to winning this damn lottery!!

Just got the Hockey News Future Watch for 2017. I'm only missing one out of the last 25. I have every draft preview since 1979....damn, makes me feel old as time itself!

Cody Glass please.

I would be thrilled to see the Flyers nab him in the range they are projected to pick.  One characteristic that really stood out about Glass was his mental toughness during the last Hawks game I went to.  Seattle was clearly taking liberties against him and he just stood his ground with a sh$t eating grin.  Played his game and was key to the Hawks win.  Nice to see along with the obvious tangible attributes which make him a first rounder.

Hopefully going to game six on Monday.  I'll check in if I do.

and yeah....Hart is even better in person!!

Mismash is a good name...but Nando Eggenberger is the best name in this draft.

Thought I'd post this profile of Mismash from Red Line, because it turns out he's a Flyer fan. A big physical player, Flyer fan, from Minnesota = surely Holmgren will make sure the Flyers draft him, no?

I was reading a publication the other day and Elias Pettersson has grown a bit and added a few pounds. He's now listed at 6'2, 167 pounds. Still hoping it's Cody Glass they end up with, but wouldn't shed a tear if Pettersson was chosen if Glass is gone. Never thought I'd be happy with drafting a late year kid........

Looks like both Patrick and Hischier did well in the combine.

Patrick weighed in a 6'2" 198 and Hischier 6 1 1/2 176.

Casey Mittlestadt won the he-man award for failing to do a single pull up but managed ONE bench press.

I see Patrick did more reps on the bench press and Nico did more pullups.

Which with the pullups it should be expected almost one is pulling up 198 pounds and the other is pulling up 176 pounds.

So my gut insticts tells me Nico will be a Devil and Patrick falls to Flyers.

I'm happy with that.

New here, been going to a few different places trying to see if anyone knows of any nhl draft simulator. There's several for the NFL.  I think it would be great for the NHL.  I will keep looking - if anyone knows of one pleaase let me know.

Welcome. Great handle, Gary was one of my favourite Flyers ever.

I know I saw a Draft "Lottery" simulator, have not seen an actual draft simulator, but I could see one existing. If you find it, let us know, that would interesting to see.

I swear I sniffed out this lottery win. I just felt we were due....WAY overdue. I bet a co-worker 5 bucks at 10-1 odds that the Flyers would pick in the top 3. When he paid me he had this bewildered look on his face, figured it was easy quick cash...NOT!!

I think I have a slight preference towards Nico at this time. I think Nico will be an elite skater eventually, while Patrick should be slightly better than average type of thing. I want speed mismatches in our top 6. Plus, I think Nico has more offensive upside. But hey, getting the awesome two way physicality and leadership qualities of Patrick is a GREAT consolation prize. Either way, I'm getting giddy wondering who it will be and what number they will have!! This pick just might potentially open our window to winning it all up a full year, who knows?

Yes i agree all the reasons i think the Devils take him (Nico).....

When the Devils won the lottery I was leaning 60/40 in favor of Patrick. Now I'm 50/50. I don't know why, but I get kind of a Patrik Elias vibe from Hischier. Not saying he is going to have the same production, but I think he could be similar in terms of playing style.

Am I bringing up some painful memories with that name?

:VeryCool:

I have had similar ebbs and flows since the Flyers won the lottery. Originally I thought Patrick but no way the Devils pas on him. Now if I were to bet, Id day the Devs take Hischier.  You guys an incredibly tough decision, meanwhile Hextall has no pressure, whoever you dont take - we are happy with the consilation prize

Yeah the decision wouldn't be so tough if the one we don't take didn't end up on a rival team. Hell, some Devils fans already talk about whether we made a mistake taking Zacha over Provorov. This would be that discussion x10.

It will be kind of fun though seeing the top 2 picks go head-to-head for hopefully the next 10-15 years.

Oh yeah you did make a mistake not taking Ivan...and i thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I hope it ends up like when the Leafs passed on Scott Neidermeyer back in the day!

No offense, but unless Zacha becomes a legit 1st line center - he'll never match what Provorov is becoming already

It's entirely possible, although I still have hope for Zacha. I think he's got the skill and smarts to be a really good player. He just needs to be more assertive. It would probably help to give him consistent minutes with somebody better than Jacob Josefson too.

Plus at the time of the pick we still had Larsson and high hopes for Severson, Merrill, and Santini, so it made sense to go with a forward instead of a defenseman.

Provorov was a 'hi ceiling' / hi floor'  prospect.  IOW almost no risk whatsoever.  Zacha ws a riskier pick. I know I'm biased but Hextall is a breath of fresh air as a GM.  His draft record is outstanding and he proved himself as a superb evaluator of teenage talent in his role with the Kings.  As a Flyer fan he's the best thing that's happened to the franchise since Bobby Clarke was drafted in the late 60's

Provorov's skating, instinct and poise made him a VERY safe pick. I believe his floor was always 1st pairing d-man, his ceiling will be how great he becomes at the 1st pairing. Hockey is littered with guys with the physical attributes of Zacha that just never lived up the offensive part of the equation. A LOT riskier IMHO.

For Flyer fan that saw the team win the Cups as kids, we are entering our 50's.....Hexy is the last great hope for the Flyers to return to greatness before some of us start kicking the bucket. If he did fail, the hiring of a new regime, starting all over AGAIN....that would be mental cruelty to the proud fan base.  I have a ton of faith in Hexy, but those are the facts, if he fails, some will die without seeing a Cup, or not remembering it properly. Big shoes to fill.....very big indeed.
