jammer2 Posted March 7, 2017 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Congrats to Joe for a GREAT career and becoming the 13th player EVER to reach the awesome mark of 1000 career assists!! Seems like it was just yesterday I stood in awe of Joe as a youngster playing for the Sault Ste.Marie Greyhounds. He was in big in junior as he was in the OHL, so yeah...he was towering. I just could not believe how big and talented he was. That was 21 years ago....lol, he's 19 years into his NHL career. The only guy not named Gretzky or Lemieux to get back to back 90 assist seasons. My man is only a few points away from cracking top 20 all time points. If this were the 80's, this iron man is likely finishing top 5 in points behind only the Howe's and Gretzky's He has a legit shot at finishing top 5 in assists(If Jagr ever retires) as he is only 42 assists behind 5th all time. If this were the 80's, Jumbo Joe goes down as #2 behind Gretzky for assists. And 2 Lockouts!
