Howie58 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Philly has already gone down 1 to nothing in the first. They blew a 5 on 3 advantage for nearly 2 minutes. The NHL Network/Bruins announcers note the O and B have given up first goal in 25 18. games. The Flyers are -15 in first period; the Bruins are + 18. You couldn't fault Mase on the first score--the D let Pastrnak get a score from a psss behind the goal. In customary fashion--the O and B have outshot the Bruins 14 to 11 after 1. But we are behind. What does that say about the type of shots? Howie
WordsOfWisdom Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 The good news is the game will be over by supper time so @Podein25 can watch his new favourite team battle the Hurricanes tonight. It's time to be-leaf!
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Wow...Flyers players at least TRYING to screen and park bodies in front of Tuuka Rask...but NO SHOT coming from the points. Those players taking a beating in front of the goalie, the point men HAVE to take shots there.

intheslot Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Hey Curling later tonight ...>>>!!!! Mr Softy in net ...
AJgoal Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Weal needs a new number before my irrational hatred of #40 on a Flyer makes me throw a beer through the TV.
AJgoal Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Aaaand Manning channels his inner MacDonald to end the game.
murraycraven Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 This game Manning was a human punching bag and provided the game winning goal.... For the Bruins.
Howie58 Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 No joy in Mudville. Can't fault Mason on either goal. Let's hope our young defenders in LV progress and contribute next year.

flyer4ever Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I have no questions for the coach because he has nothing to work with, but I have to ask what the game plan was in the 3rd period. In the 2nd period the Flyers almost looked like a hockey team, skating, hitting, sacrificing. I guess the word came down from above to try and look mediocre, because the 3rd period today was a joke. I think Hakstol just closes his eyes and prays for the horn to go. This was another must game, as these guys like to say, but it looked more like September than March, and today thats on the coach and the captain, who had his invisible man costume on. In my world, I have always thought its better to go down fighting, not as a punching bag for a really bad Bruins team.

Yeah, it's been a very down year for the Bolts. I'm reminded again of The Hockey News picking them to win the Stanley Cup, and my thread prior to the season where I said the Lightning were doomed as a result.
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 I watched some of this game though, and in all seriousness, I thought the Flyers didn't play badly, but they certainly didn't maximize their scoring opportunities. Too many guys skating the puck around when they probably should have been putting it on net. Rask was good but far from infallible this game....Philly just didn't react fast enough on offense to take advantage when he wasn't quite set. Also, Boston played a much better game along the walls, and just seemed quicker to get to loose pucks. Philadelphia at times, put together nice strings of pressure, and Mason was pretty good, I thought in net, but the missed opportunities on offense for the Flyers was the difference IMO.
