Game 75: Flyers at Pitt: 3/26 @ 7

After getting off to a rocky start down 1-0 on a greasy PP but Jordan Weal just tied it on a blast.  It's a very competitive game.  Mason and Murray are dialed in. Manning beat a Pitt player in a good fight.

I'll go with diamond disaster jubilee...:thumbsu: Great job my Mason in the first to keep the Flyers in this. They have seem to finally have their skating legs.

Filpulla's garbage goal puts us 2-1 at end of second.  It's funny, we play so poorly at Nationwide historically.  In Pitt's CONSOL or PPG Arena...we seem to play well. What gives?

The Penguins uniforms keep reminding me of a honey flavoured ice cream I had once. Exactly the same colour.

Some good play by the Flyers this game, where was this team the past three months?

G'Day Mate:

Yes, that is a great question.  This is one of the best efforts we've seen all year.  They are attacking the puck and Pitt.  Manning may have helped set the tone.  Weal and Filpulla have some much needed skill.

They're hideous. They remind me of a stupid school bus from a stupid school filled with stupid kids from stupid Pittsburgh, stupidly:NinjaLookLeftRight1:.

Well, that was quite the decisive victory. If the Flyers played like that all season, they would be in the running for the playoffs instead of telling themselves "at lest we're above New Jersey". There was some good skill on display, as well as players backing themselves and taking risks, which lead to good opportunities.

This is like the Eagles versus Dallas or Washington.  I am not sure if standings matter; Pitt and the Flyers hate each other...and we play well at this venue.

It's all they can do CONSISTENTLY!!!

Writ large, last night was another example of the inconsistency we've seen for the last decade.  One night we are turds; a few nights later we play like gangbusters.  My take--when this team is primarily staffed by players acquired by successive drafts who grow together, the inconsistency will diminish.  Now--I suspect we see nights where they gel...and nights they are jello.

Well I would not call the CBJ game a turd but I do understand what you are saying. Bob is a Vezina candidate for a reason. The hard truth is if they had played like this every game or even just most they would be in the playoffs. I forget who it was for the Pens but they were coming down the boards on MacDud's side and he(MacDud) actually stepped into him instead of backing all the way into the zone. You could see the confused look on the face of the Penguin. It only happened once that I saw but that is the only time I have ever seen MacDud make that play. Even Dale Weise is looking like the guy we have been looking for all season. It is amazing how good this team can look when they put in the effort.

Well said, hopefully they lose their last 7 games to move up in the draft standings :eyeroll:
