hobie Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 TO has a pretty good crop of rookies, we've been told over and over again by the media, the coach, the GM and you know what it's true. 5 of the rookies get most of the love, Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Brown and Zaitsev and rightfully so but there are other rookies like Sosh and Hymen. Hymen it seems is falling into that love/hate category that Bozak has dwelled in since Bozak became a Leaf. Hymen is a decent NHL player, the prototypical 4th liner who's game is all hustle with small dollops of skill. Hymen is being used questionably by Babs now but since TO is winning why sweat the small stuff. It's also possible Hymen would provide more offense if he played on the 3rd line against less talented opposition than he faces on Matthews' line. We can all remember the Vesey sweepstakes where he decided in the end to sign with the Rangers, we were disappointed. So far this year Hymen is outscoring Vesey which might help shed some light on not being able to sign Vesey, it wasn't as devastating as we thought. There's still unanswered questions, like was Sosh used properly, did TO need to look outside of the org. for a backup maybe Bibeau or Sparks could have been good enough, should Kapanen been on the roster all year and probably more questions. At last we have reasons to stay tuned!!
hf101 Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Well they are setting records. Matthews sets a rookie record for goals Marner sets a new rookie record for assists that has lasted for 73 years. and Nylander is right there with them as the trio are within 5pts of each other. Quite an incredible season
