King Knut Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 It was scary. Makes you think of other athletes who have died in games for no apparent reason. And of course the legend of Gambel. That said ive seen a bridesmaid and a groom do the exact same thing at two different weddings. Seriously worried about the rest of the team. How are the goalies the only ones so sick they can't or shouldn't dress? you worry about someone getting spacey st full speed and colliding. That's seriously dangerous.
icehole Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I've had this happen to me 3 times before. The most recent time, I had pneumonia and was really weak while having blood taken. When I was 16, it was a hot summer day and I swallowed a drink wrong. But the first time, I was probably like 10 years old and my dad was shaving my head with hair clippers. The last two had reasons, but the first one was for absolutely no reason. It's scary. Now, it might make sense that I am the way I am right.
Puck_Pun Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I saw the video summary of the game, and wow yeah, I hope things turn out all right for Neuvirth. From what I've seen online the Flyers community have rallied behind him and are just wanting him to get well, which is always nice to see.

I'm not sure that's what went on with Neuvirth. It occurred to me, but I'd be surprised if that were the diagnosis. It doesn't quite fit.
DaGreatGazoo Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I saw Fisher, the Predators goalie and Neuvy all happen live. Fisher was awful cause you knew he was bad--I remember them doing CPR/Chest compressions on the bench. 3 times--I don't need to see it happen again. Ever.
Samifan Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Has anyone heard any type of update on his condition?
WordsOfWisdom Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I saw the highlight of this while I was watching the Leafs/Red Wings game last night. I was going to post a thread about it but I figured someone would have one made 5 seconds after it happened. Perhaps there's a larger topic to discuss here such as: "Is today's NHL game (and pro sports in general) pushing athletes to the breaking point?" We are seeing players collapsing at a greater rate across all sports. Not to knock NHL players from the past but being a gym rat was "an added bonus", not a requirement. Today you have to be in Olympic-level condition to play in the NHL. Then there's the issue of pace. Can you really make players "sprint" for 60 minutes per night? It's sort of like taking the 100m race and expecting runners to continue at that speed for 30k. Or taking a marathon and expecting runners to do it at Usain Bolt pace for the entire distance.

Maybe it was a Sympathy black out? They said that both he and mason were feeling sick but Neuvy wanted to go (also, recalling two phantoms might have been tricky). Who knows what was going on with Mason, but if it was a upper respiratory infection, it could match up couldn't it?
hf101 Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Neuvirth suffered a concussion as a result of the collapse.
