flyercanuck Posted June 26, 2017 Share Posted June 26, 2017 It was only a few years ago when being a Flyer fan meant July 1st, and NOT draft day, was when the Flyers went shopping for the future of the team. Even if it meant that future was probably a year or three long. I prefer getting players you can watch develop and have their best years. I like cheering for guys you saw as teenagers turn into legitimate NHLers.. Part of the process is even watching a guy like Scott Laughton struggle, when you were so sure he was going to be a good one. I've wanted this team to build through the draft for so long...there's nothing wrong with filling in a spot here or there through free agency...but it's no way to build a team in a cap era.
