Time to play: "Let's Make A Deal" - Top Free Agents and where do they go?

Recommended Posts

Just a fun little exercise to find out where everyone thinks the top 25 Free Agents sign.  Listed below I have the top 25 Free Agents as listed by "The Hockey Writers".  I have the player and their 2016-17 team(s) listed.  Predict where they sign.  No special order for those who want to participate. Just chime in your thoughts for whomever is on the list.

It was only a few years ago when being a Flyer fan meant July 1st, and NOT draft day, was when the Flyers went shopping for the future of the team. Even if it meant that future was probably a year or three long.

I prefer getting players you can watch develop and have their best years. I like cheering for guys you saw as teenagers turn into legitimate NHLers.. Part of the process is even watching a guy like Scott Laughton struggle, when you were so sure he was going to be a good one.

I've wanted this team to build through the draft for so long...there's nothing wrong with filling in a spot here or there through free agency...but it's no way to build a team in a cap era.

Thank you Ron Hextall...for making me not give a crap about July 1st...other than Happy Canada Day!

 No offence doc!

Okay let me give it a shot:

Shattenkirk: The Devils. The Rangers seem to be where everyone has him going but they need defensive blueliners

Thornton: Rangers.

Bonino: Hurricanes

Vrbata: Sharks

Alzner: Red Wings

Justin Williams: Wild

Hanzal: Flames

Gagner: Panthers

Markov: Canadiens

Del Zotto: Sabres

Brendan Smith: Bruins

Marleau: Sharks

Dadanov: Knights or remaining in KHL

Vanek: Blues

Stone: Rangers

Elliott: Rangers

Stafford: Sabres

Boyle: Jackets

Mason: Leafs

Fisher: Predators

Kulikov: Lightning

Jagr: Panthers

Gourde: Panthers
